Last year Lopez, Bautista, Baker, Perez Akin, and Voth all emerged from various versions of obscurity/mediocrity to form a strong pen. We needed a couple similar stories this year, and Cano & Coulombe are staking their claims.

Don’t forget Mike Baumann!

Baker, Coulombe, Cano, Bautista should be available today.  Bakers velocity was down the other night.  I would think they might want to give him another day.  Another reason why I would have tried to avoid using Baumann yesterday or limit him to one inning.  Gotta figure he needs at least two days off now.   We need 6 good innings from Wells today.

This bullpen is nasty. It’s funny how Cano basically gives us what we had with a combo of Bautista and Lopez. Now everyone slots into their role.

Baumann and Columbe have also been huge.

Perez needs to get it going. Tate and Givens sound like they are getting close to rehab stints.

Tate pitched once this week already.

I wonder how the rain delay / double header affects the bullpen. It can't be a good thing. Especially with how fast Brandon Hyde goes through his bullpen in 1 single game.

On a day like tommorow, I think the Orioles are going to need to rely on Austin Voth and Mike Baumann in seperate games to provide length for each game.  They'll have to hope for great starts from the starters too.

Looks like they’re bringing up Hall as the extra man.  Good chance they use him as a multiple inning guy.

I noticed that Hyde declined to use Voth in the double header today when Voth could have been useful. And I think it is especially revealing he declined to use Voth in the 6th with a clean inning and the team dishing a shutout to Detroit. That tells me Voth is definitely one of the odd men out when Tate and Givens return.

I think the other one is still up in the air, but it's probably going to come down to the fact they can use an option on Akin to try and secure Perez a little longer hoping he will resolve his issue. Akin has his value too at times, but the bullpen has proven they can survive while he takes time away from it for short periods of time.

So I'm thinking they DFA Voth, and Option Akin to make room. so long as no IL happens. Then they will revisit it as the season progresses. I don't forsee Akin staying down for long if this happens. He's a good specialist LOOG.

Decisions on who gets sent out for Givens/Tate are almost here.

Baumann has allowed runs in three straight outings (7 ER in 3 IP) after only allowing 1 run in his first 11 games. That + having an option + being a righty has probably made him a likely choice.

If there aren't any other injuries I'm guessing Baumann and Akin are the two to get sent down for Givens/Tate.

I think there’s good chance Givens is back this weekend he had another scoreless outing tonight. I’d have to think Givens is back by next series against the Rays.

The O’s are in dire need of a fresh bullpen arm (that’s reliable).

He looks ready.  Tate doesn’t look even remotely ready.

Has Givens had any Balks called on him during his rehab? For some reason he kept getting pegged with balks during his Spring Training appearances.

About 20% of the way through the season and BAL relievers holding 3rd in K-BB, the only Clubs above 19 with them are ATL and HOU.

Conventional Astros wisdom is simply amass all the Relievers who can sustain K-BB near 20.    If they are all right handed, it doesn't matter.

Most MLB pitching is done by individuals between 10 and 20.    29 Clubs are there, and OAK is doing the Barry Bonds wrong way thing.

Cano and Coulombe running with Felix as RP1's a crazy success.    About 20% of way through season, the BAL placements among MLB's couple hundred 10-inning RP's are 3, 9, 15, 36 | 100, 101, 189.

I'll guess "inflammation" for Cionel's upcoming injury.     I still think Coulombe is mostly Ballard, but starting to have Harnisch-Schilling hopes on Cano before they all eventually break.
