I was in a hurry to get seated before first pitch and had already committed to the pizza stand.  I won’t be paying it again.

Me, I hate waiting on lines.   I’ll happily wait for the hot dog vendor to come to me.

There really wasn’t much of a line, with 12,500 fans there, many of whom hadn’t arrived yet.  But, I had cut it pretty close to game time with my own arrival and just wanted to grab something quick.  I’m having brats at home tonight so I wanted something else I could grab quickly.

The hot dog vendors at Csmden Yards are pretty few and far between these days.  And I didn’t want a hot dog last night anyway.

I thought I read you can order food from your phone and pick it up? Maybe they are still trying to figure out what they are doing first. Can't understand with no money exchanges that it takes longer then when Aaramark had a separate area to pay.

Clancy is still around and I saw him.  Shaky passed away before they allowed vendors back in 2021

My experience:   sitting on the club level down the RF line.

Got there about 25 or 30 minutes before gametime, but first I went to the booth for Birdland Club Members to pick up my free transparent Oriole bag for the season, at the north end of Eutaw.   Strolled back down Eutaw, checking what was available.   Noted that there are NO outdoor smokers, Boogs is still being made in the warehouse somewhere and transported down.   Craft beer selection on Eutaw not improved from its dismal state last year.

Went up the RF escalator to club level.   At this point I didn't have a huge amount time, I just wanted something to eat.   There was some sort of restaurant/room on the 1st base side that I'm sure had some good selection, but the line was out the door.  There was a stand with dogs/burgers/etc further down the line near where I was sitting.   It had kiosks where you order yourself on the touch screen and pay, and then pick up your food.   However, I was told by the lady that if I used the kiosk I would not get my Birdland Member discount.   To get that she had to take my order at a register which actually took longer than the kiosk would have.   And although I had linked a credit card to my Birdland Membership, I could not pay that way via the phone, I still had to take a credit card out of my pocket and run it in the machine like our caveman ancestors did.

Got a hot dog.    The beer selection was all garbage that I would never drink (Miller Lite, Bud, etc).   So I got a Pepsi Zero in a souvenir club.   With a 25% birdland member discount, I still paid over $13 (and I tipped on top of that).   The hot dog was OK, nothing special.   And the card reader had issues with my Discover card, took a couple minutes.   I got to my seating section in time to stand in the entranceway during the anthem and then walk to my seat.

So not a great experience, price or quality or efficiency wise.

Next game I will try to get there earlier, and wander around and see where the interesting food and good beer can be found.   But since I typically work 10-6:30 most days, I already had to leave early to get to a 6:35 game so I was a bit rushed.   I'll probably try to get to one of the Detroit games next weekend.

You didn't get your free soda  or water and popcorn at the Birdland Club level restaurant or whatever they call it?

During the media preview, a Levy rep told me the company planned to bring back real-life smokers to the Yard so that the scent of chargrilled meat would fill the area surrounding Boog’s Pit Beef, one of the most popular stands. Reality must have gotten in the way, though, because I didn’t smell a thing. However, I did fork over $20.99 for a pit beef sandwich and chips.

While the beef I originally tried was medium rare and freshly carved, this version was well done and tasted dry. It desperately needed some tiger sauce, that horseradish-mayonnaise love child, but I was leery of a communal bucket of the condiment that looked like it had been left in the sun too long. Instead, I snacked on some of those uber-salty BTI chips, which are like a thicker and ridged alternative to Utz crab chips.
