Is Anybody else frustrated with the organizations pitching philosophy

There’s philosophy, and then there’s execution.  You can believe 93 on the corner is better than 96 down the middle, and throw one 93 down the middle.  Franchy’s two homers were on mistake pitches, for example.  No philosophy about it.

So when do we start drafting guys who can paint in the 1st round?

In the MLB, hitters will time and crank 97-98. Velocity isn't enough at this level. Go ahead and blow people away at A and AA and even perhaps AAA. The 97mph fastballs over the plate doesn't cut it in the AL East. I dont care that Hall and Rodriguez can throw 98. Doesnt matter to me.

All I'm asking for is 92-93 on the corner with movement and quality off speed. Is that too much to ask for?

After a while I tired of seeing Os pitchers pumping in high velocity fastballs over the heart of the plate and getting rocked.

We should be scouting for command, not velocity. Especially with this left field wall keeping everything in the park.

I think it's more of a talent issue than a philosophy issue.

Beat me to it.

When you don’t prioritize pitching in the draft, you have to be willing to get it other ways and you have to be willing to focus on top talent to win.

The Os have shown unwillingness to do that plus they are suppressing innings and things like that for pitchers because they think it matters for injury reasons, despite evidence showing that’s not true.

Then you should be thrilled because the Orioles signed Gibson and sent Hall to the minors to work on command.  They're doing exactly what you want them to do.

Will you stop telling me they're doing the exact opposite of what I'm complaining about?! You're ruining my complaining and there's no way on the anonymous internet I'm ever going to say you're right! I'm right no matter what the evidence says, got it?!

I'm pretty sure it is often Can of Corn who makes this claim.  Forgive me CoC if I'm remembering incorrectly.

I don't think what you're saying is true.

I think it is more accurate to say that there is no evidence that proves limiting innings limits injuries.

However, that is not the same thing as saying there is evidence that  proves limiting innings doesn't limit injuries.

Somebody needs to teach Grayson Rodriguez how to properly pitch. If you can't locate your fastball on a consistent basis then why spend a top 5 pick on him? I know he's young and still improving, but he's been pitching for a long time. If you can't locate your fastball then why all of a sudden would he learn how? Does a basketball player all of a sudden get to the NBA and learn how to shoot?

He was the 11th overall pick, not top 5. And he wasn't having significant issues with command until the injury last year. Something has been off since he came back, but I would bet on him figuring it out.

WTH are you talking about?

Who spent a top 5 pick on him?

Do you think or research anything before you post?
