I'm not sure that's a catch.

It clearly gets loose, not sure if he regained control in time.

Great effort tho, and if he didn't hold onto it, great job of hiding that fact.

Agreed, it's not a catch. he dropped it under his leg in the attempt and grabbed it as he stood, but still a great effort.

Just like CharmCity said, you can see the ball leave his glove on is on his belt first, then on the ground next to his left knee. What’s funny is, he clearly picks it up off the ground next to his knee.

By the way, I’ve watched about 10 times and I’m still not sure if the ball touched the ground before Williams had control.

It's hard to tell when it came loose but logic tells me from where the ball is that he had it in his glove when he hit the ground and then it came out.

    • Agreed Roy. I saw the same thing. I really think he's getting close to a breakout. But to do that, this team needs to show they believe in him and let him play regularly. But they won't. He needs steady ABs against MLB pitchers to improve. If they give him those I think he'll be a solid contributor.
    • That's true but in fairness he did drive in two runs by advancing runners in Thursday's game-something current Orioles seem incapable of. Elias could not have foreseen the injuries, some guys just need an opportunity and he wasn't getting it in Baltimore.
    • Way too many black holes in the lineup right now. I saw  twitter post yesterday comparing the lineup from late June to one last night.  It’s night and day. So many big losses, underperforming guys and just players who shouldn’t be playing either at all or as much as they are. Its just a terrible combination right now.
    • 6-7. The problem is we are playing actual Major League teams the rest of the year.
    • Pitching hasn't been the issue. Other than say Povich, there are a lot of silver linings there. Hitting on the other hand, beyond Henderson, has been nightmarish and trying to find a silver lining is kind of challenging at the moment.
    • Feels like getting no hit for 26 outs against the mediocre Tigers (just after getting walked off to lose a series to the Sox) could be the "hitting bottom" moment of the season. Silver linings are badly needed.  Last night Adley had two CS's. I believe both throws were bouncers but had enough on them to beat the runners. When was the last time we had two CS's? Appears the Tigers think they have something on us and plan to run. See if that continues.  Overlooked in the Boston game, Kremer went 7 innings for the first time since April. That's 5 of 6 starts with 6 IP or more. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with him as the #3 if Grayson can't make it back (or even if he does).  Can we talk about how good Cano has been? 1.35 ERA in July, 2.31 in August. Always with the toughest matchups/highest leverage outs.  Eflin of course has been tremendous.  It's not a lot but it's something.
