I Love Aaron Hicks!

I believe we face right handers the rest of this week. If they want defense it will be McKenna. And, I can see that. I hope it's Kjerstad however cause I think we need that extra potential pop and let Crowser and Hayes cover center. Be great experience for Kjerstad even if it is short term. They can't aford to go day to day this time.

Phillies manager on why they didn’t challenge Hicks’ catch:

“We couldn’t tell because everything was behind us,” Thomson said. “We went to the replay room and the angle that we needed didn’t come in until after the 10 second time limit was up. So I had to waive it off. Then, two or three seconds later, they got it. They found it. It came in. Not much you can do about it.”

McKenna or Kjerstad? I know Elias likes to see his guys get at least 200 at bats at each level and Kjerstad only has 125 but that should be enough when you're hitting .344 and OPSing over 1.000!

I'm pretty confident that Kjerstad isn't on the 40-man and won't be this year. Look for McKenna if they bring someone up.

Can’t blame him but you could tell even from the bad angle that Hicks was gathering the ball in after it came out of his glove.  You just couldn’t see it.

I think it would have to be McKenna. We’d need someone who could play CF.

I have to think it's going to be McKenna too unless the team is comfortable enough having Cowser and Hays play CF until Hicks or Mullins return. Maybe we'll see a trade for a better caliber of player that can play CF over the likes of McKenna and Hicks.

Hicks has been a good story, but he's hurt now and has put up a .637 OPS in July. And with Mullins perhaps being out for an extended stretch now is the time to get a quality outfielder.

Tony said that Kjerstad has to be added this winter for rule 5 purposes so there isn’t a lot of reasons for not adding him if you want to.   I do expect to see McKenna before Kjerstad.

It would be kind of You Can't Predict Baseball funny if the absence stopping the first day of a Cowser-Mullins-Kjerstad alignment I think we'll see a lot in the coming years (sorry, Austin) is Mullins'.

It is nice the boys are putting pressure on Elias to take a think if marginal PA 129-250 might be a worthy investment this season.     Right this minute I suppose he has about 6 more hours of playing chicken with Jackson Baumeister before getting back to his Perry Minasian texts.

Can you picture OPACY Friday night if Kjerstad is in the lineup for Grayson's turn opening a homestand with the Yankees in town?    I'd bet against it but I suppose it is conceivable Saturday that Gerrit Cole at age 32.9 faces:

Gunnar, Adley, Santander, O'Hearn, Hays, Cowser, Westburg, Kjerstad and "an infielder".     We know who that infielder will be in another minute.

I just don't know who they drop if they add him. I personally feel like they'll just go with McKenna, also.

With Logan Gillaspie and Bizardo currently on the 40 man, I don’t see a problem finding a spot.

Suarez in game 3 vs the Phillies is a lefty.

    • Still with a chance to do this for the first time since 1982-83. Would be one more nice accomplishment for this organization.
    • The weird thing about our bullpen is that they rarely blow leads.   They have a 69% save rate, 4th highest in baseball.  They make it scary, but generally, when they have the lead, they get the job done.   Where they are really bad is keeping games close when we’re down a run or two, last night being a classic example of that.   This year’s team has 32 comeback wins, compared to 48 last year.   Why is that?   Part of it is obviously on the offense, but part of it is that the bullpen doesn’t keep us in striking distance when we’re behind.   One way you can tell this is by the W/L records of the starters and the bullpen.  Last year, the starters were 57-40, this year they’re 60-49.   The starter got the decision 12 more times this year than last year, including 9 more losses (with 3 games to play).   That tells you that when the team is losing when the starter is pulled, they keep losing.  Meanwhile, the relievers were 44-21 last year, 28-22 now. They’re not picking up wins because they don’t give the offense a chance to catch up and get the win for the bullpen guy.
    • I do not disagree with above posts.  Also I am pretty sure that this time last season, the Texas Rangers Hangout was saying the exact same things as the Rangers Pen.  Point being, you never know until you know.  The pen is shaky, but is capable of putting together a solid run from time to time.
    • Roster Resource thinks it has tonight's lineup and Kjerstad on bench again. He is 7 AB shy of 130 MLB regular season AB with 3 games left, and if he ends up short some prospect list makers may still label him one.    If still with the Orioles, he will be 26 years old by Sarasota. I think the OP has its answer as it has been Cole and Lopez these two nights and the team is preparing for that intensity.
    • I care I bet the over on 88 wins, looked like a lock now not so much, come on O’s, daddy needs some new shoes
    • I’d have brought up Young immediately after DFAing Kimbrel. Baker has no place on this club this year. Would have been nice to see Young up here.
    • Yeah, but they could've brought him up a month ago and seen what they might have...And Im not "pining" for Brandon Young, just wondering if he's any better than some we have in the pen..
