Is JW the reincarnation of JJ Hardy?

JJ Hardy was probably the best free agent addition during my orioles tandem. I believe he had a few season where he hit 25-30 homers.  He played GG defense and never missed games.

Yes, before he hit free agency. Hence he was never signed by the Orioles as a FA.

Was JJ Hardy the guy who never ever swung on the first pitch?  Pitchers picked up on it and he was almost always in an 0-1 hole.

Westburg appears to be a better offensive player and JJ is the better defensive player, at least at the more premium position.

I could see Westburg being a similar player to Hardy offensively, though he'll probably walk more. Defensively I don't think he's close to as good as Hardy.

Yeah in those ways it makes sense. However, JJ was a Gold Glove caliber SS, and Westburg is unlikely to play there. Also, Westburg seems to have a lot more patience at the plate. Their actual abilities don’t have much in common.
