WAR does an awful job of determining reliever value imo.

Bautista and Cano are 2nd and 3rd in WPA amongst relievers. I think that is just huge and the real difference in this team this year.

There is a decent chance that Bautista ends the year leading the team in WAR, and he almost certainly will end the year in the top 2 or 3 assuming he carries on like this.  Do you think that's still understating the value of his performance?  That a RP has to put up a once-in-a-decade performance to put up a WAR number that matches an all-star position player?

When you have poor pitching performances do you get just enough hitting for opportunities to win

A hitter goes 2-4 with 2 HR's in a game, they are both solo shots while the 2 outs were with runners in scoring position

Cano should be used like the old fashioned "fireman"---if we had another back end reliever.
