I don't use that hellhole of a site anymore, but doesn't pretty much everyone have a blue checkmark now? You pay for it.

Yes, but it does serve a great purpose. You get to see who's dumb enough to pay Elon for that ridiculous mark and take them less serious.

Yo Mama could have a blue Twitter/X checkmark if she wanted one.  They're pointless now, I think you give Elon what?  10 bucks a month?  And you're good to go 😆

Ok.  The blue check mark thing was said tongue in cheek.  But he has 8,800 followers and has gotten shout outs from more mainstream media types.

Not sure who this is, but he he has a blue check mark...

Unfortunately, the check mark just means that this user makes a monthly donation to Elon Musk. One of the growing list of reasons that Twitter can't really be relied upon as a news source anymore.

They're desperate and desperation causes irrational decisions.

The Padres are in a weird spot because they’ve been trying to win the last few years and it hasn’t worked out. Their GM AJ Preller would be conceding defeat by selling at the trade deadline today and setting himself up to get fired after the season ends.

With the Padres record this year they are long shots at having a deep playoff run, but I don’t see them deciding to start over either. Their best strategy (IMO) would be retooling for 2024-25 and explore trades for veterans like Hader and Snell who are going to be free agents.

Preller should be able to buy himself another year if he can build for next season, but he’s running out of time with this group of players.

They never meant anything.

That's not true. It used to be a verification that the user is who they say they are, verified on a case by case basis by Twitter staff. Useful when searching for Tweets of public figures/celebrities/news outlets, etc.

Blue check marks being useless is a new thing within the past year from Elon.

Although I think that the actual mainstream journalists also still have them.  Probably worried about the optics of dropping it, even if it's become meaningless.
