Isn't that Wells' problem?

Yea it’s a problem. He was a reliever for much of his career. Can he give you another 10 or so good starts? It’s definitely a concern. Otoh, you need relief help too and maybe him and Wells become 2-4 inning pitchers, openers, etc…

I wouldn’t trade much at all for him but if you can get him for a few lower level guys, sure why not.

I don’t think I would deal any of our top 15-20 guys to get him though.

E-Rod is a much better option for us.

Maybe he feels that the price will be lower if he waits until the last minute.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too.  Seems like it's an old Oriole tactic going back at least to the MacPhail years.  Just joking, but when you have all these desired prospects that you don't want to give up for rentals, waiting to the last moment may be the best recourse.

Remember what Elias said..they want additions that can make a difference in the playoffs.

Now, maybe the injury to Mullins and the  Wells issue changes his mind some but if he’s still thinking that way, them not acquiring anything may be very realistic.

Difference in the playoffs, to me, means relief pitching more than anything.  Even if the Orioles get another starter, their SP innings will likely be shortened in the post season.

My concern with eRod is what potential resentment does he hold for the O’s past regime trading him away all those years back? If any of us believe there isn’t any residual feelings and cite his being a professional and that he will do his job as expected.. I promise you there are still hard feelings. The best starter option potentially available or not, the fact that eRod can (and will) opt out of his deal makes me VERY nervous about a reunion.

What were the personal issues that he missed time last year? I think it’d be silly to give up anything of significant value for the dude.
