I accidentally spiked guys on similar plays to that multiple times.  It was never on purpose.  Sometimes your foot just bounces off the bag at an unfortunate angle.

I played a bit of softball. It doesn't matter. These guys are professionals, they know how to not hurt each other.

Yeah he was trying to break up the double play.  It got them a run.  It was a little dirty.
