I believe this is what they call small sample size/cherry picking.

What are you talking about?  He's been hitting the ball pretty consistent all season -- plus he has power.  The problem with Frazier is his glove not his bat.

I have no issue with the way Hyde managed the game. It's not his fault that we have nobody that can drive in runs when the bases are loaded with no outs.

We are stuck in situations where we have to over use Bautista and Cano just about every night because we can't score enough runs. We keep blowing opportunity with runners on the bases and no one to convert them into runs.

Not every game should be so close like all our games seem to be. We should be scoring more runs and putting less stress on our pitchers.

Cano has been over used and now he's practically got dead arm and can't maintain the same arm slot he had when he was dominating at the end of the year.

Bautista was unavailable because they don't want him to break down and watch our season slip away completely.

If we convert our opportunities into runs on the score board, we don't need to use those guys so much. We would be in a much better situation going deep into the season and the playoffs.

Now with that said, I will agree that we still need another arm upgrade or 2. But we also need a big bat that can give us alot of consistent RBIs in the next 3 months.

He should have used Batista, that is what he did wrong. He should do what is necessary to win. Every other team with a 1 run lead uses their best closer to win.  WS teams use their best closer to win. Hyde is the blame for this loss, no doubt. He Batista blew the game, then Hyde is not the blame.

These team is going to the playoffs. They will need him there.  He pitched in 3 high pressure games in Tampa.

Hyde is an idiot

He might just be because most people are saying Cano was showing the most signs of exhaustion.

Bautista isnt throwing in a different arm slot.  Cano is.  The one who needs more rest is Cano.

Well Hyde should beg Elias to let an outfielder come up who is mashing the ball.  Hjerstad.  He should beg to have  SS come up who is hitting well over .300 with pop and can out play Mateo and Frazier in their positions.  We have options.

We need to use them.

Cowser and Westburg were smashing the ball at AAA.  It doesn't mean they come up to the majors and smash the ball at this level.  Everyone here said we promoted them too late, yet all we have done is win since they came up despite them having some offensive struggles.  We lost a one-run game to last year's World Series runner up in their ballpark.   Hyde is saying Henderson is maybe out a couple of days.  So I am betting Mateo gets a start against a left hander tomorrow.  Let the meltdown begin!  I do think Mateo is a cat on his last life.

What a silly statement.  He has done a wonderful job and is a great manager of egos.  You never hear a peep out of anyone re playing time, etc….  Mounty hasn’t said nothing. Mateo hasn’t.  Do you know how hard that is?

Henderson has been 0 for 7 over his last couple games, so maybe something's been nagging him a bit.  Even the young guys can get banged up and need a rest.  I agree this may be Mateo's last chance to show he's got something -- like he did against McClanahan of all people last week.

He is one of those guys that walks around with a light limp and hitch so he always looks banged up.  It’s a long season.  He could use a few days off.

Stop.  Playing.  Mateo.

Mateo is going to be goat but you simply can’t win one-run games night in and night out. There’s no such thing n baseball. If you only have just enough offense to be up by one run every night, you are going to lose your share (and blow up your bullpen in the process).

    • I think it’s like when our fans are terrified because a team brings up a spot starter from AAA and we fear they are going to turn into Cy Young.
    • “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” — A Bartlett Giamatti https://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html

By any measure, Cowser is leading AL rookies in WAR, and it’s not that close. “

    • Every year at the end of the season, I feel a little melancholy. For me, the end of summer is not the start of school or the arrival of fall, but the end of baseball season. Today is the last day of a long song, and I will miss it. I know we have at least four more days, but those are in a different category, although I will miss that too when it ends. During the darkest days of the season, I posted frequently that the worst day of baseball is still baseball. When the Os played terrible, I would go focus on the Brewers or the A’s or Mariners(who were almost as frustrating as the Os) and follow along with former Orioles, rooting for all of them. That will all stop by tonight, and I will miss it until next February, when pitchers and catchers report. If I’m still here, I’ll be here.    Go Os…
    • We have to wait and see. But it shouldn’t matter as you have to beat whomever you play.
