Competition with the AL and World Series champions begins!

AL Active Roster k-bb ranks, 60 ip minimum

(26) Grayson v. (11) Framber

(46) Flaherty v. (33) Javier

(36) Kremer v. (19) Brown, RoY candidate

Framber and Javier have separated themselves some for Urquidy and Garcia on the Mt. Rushmore of old Latin American pitchers HOU found for nothing some years back studying pitch attributes, or studying something with signal not noise because four of them became valuable MLB SP.

Framber is one of the few pitchers leading Bradish in the ERA race and coming off the no hitter, so hopefully our Bats can help our guy climb the ladder.    Framber to me is kind of Zac? Britton who can lead the league in Innings Pitched.

Closer Ryan Pressly missed a Save chance Sunday, though Dusty brushed off inquiries.    Checking in on how HOU is doing this year amassing eight right-handed relievers who can challenge 20 k-bb, they are struggling a bit.    Entering tonight the active roster relievers are at:

HOU, 25-21,-16-15-14-11-10-5     The 5 is sixth starter JP France, unseated recently by Verlander

BAL, 50-39-24-19-15-14-11-3      The 50 is small sample size Joey Krehbiel

Bats, Altuve and Yordan are back, and Chas McCormick has been on a heater more than a month.    We don't get to see Verlander this series, but both Texas AL teams have brought in old Hall of Famers for the young Orioles Bats to at some point continue youth and energy's eternal winning streak over age and experience.

We haven’t faced these Houston pitchers a ton.  Valdez has pitched against us 3 times, 2 starts, 3.68 ERA.  Javier has pitched against us 4 times, 1 start, 1.42 ERA.   Brown managed to throw 1 scoreless inning against us last year despite allowing 3 hits.  Their current ERAs are 3.07, 4.39 and 4.07, respectively.  Neither Javier nor Brown has pitched well of late.  Javier has an 8.34 ERA since June 21, Brown a 5.34 since July 1.   Even Valdez has a 5.25 since June 27, despite the recent no-no.

As to our pitchers, Grayson has never faced Houston.  Kremer dominated them twice, pitching 16.1 innings to an 0.54 ERA in 2 starts.  Flaherty has only seen them once in his career, allowing 2 runs in 6 IP back in 2019.

Houston’s offense has been pretty meh this year, 6th in runs/game in the AL with an OPS+ of 101.  However, they’ve been hitting much better since the All Star Bresk, averaging about 5.5 runs/game with a .783 OPS since then. Altuve is playing now after missing a lot of time, so that’s a plus for them.

The Astros’ bullpen has been solid but not dominant this year, posting a 3.77 ERA to date, vs. the Orioles’ 3.55.

Overall, our pitchers will need to quell the Astros’ hot bats in this series, but I’m hopeful we can put some runs on the board.

Dusty should be thanking his lucky stars that the Astros had the cheating scandal and this job fell in his lap. What a petty comment.

He's actually pretty right.  The crowd tonight will only reinforce it.  Of course, under a different owner, he just might get suspended indefinitely for saying such a foolish thing, right?

He's right but he should be worried about his own team. It's arguably an even bigger series for the Astros in terms of the 2023 season.
