Whatever you do, don't tell Sports Guy about Brian Kenny sharing the Orioles WRC+ list. He won't like seeing Aaron Hicks as 2nd on the whole team in weight runs created.

The guy cries a lot considering we have the best record in the whole damn league.

Since June 21, covering his last 92 PA, his wRC+ is 75.

His overall number as an Oriole is currently 122.

From May 31-June 20, he had 63 PA and a 190 wRC+.

His numbers were also propped up by an unsustainable 375 BABiP And while his BABIP since then is a little on the unlucky side, it’s not that far off from the normal range And where it has been in his career. His career number is 271 and in this stretch it is 259.

So, just to recap since you decided to run with this without actually attempting any research, he started off great, which is something we acknowledge and he had an unsustainable BABiP to help him out.

Since then, his wRC+ would be 7th worse in all of baseball amongst OFers with at least 200 at bats and he isn’t even that unlucky while he’s doing it.

Kenny has been this big statistical analyst recently. I agree we have performed a little bit better than the teams overall talent. What we have does not show up in numbers. Our team depth is outstanding. This gives Hyde a chance to ride hot bats. I’d rather be where we are and it still hasn’t all the way clicked for our superstar prospects.

One thing that seems to set the top top teams apart is the top of the order. Teams like the Astros, Dodgers, Padres (not a top team but a very difficult top of the order) and of course Atlanta just have absolutely brutal top 4 or so of the order. And then other than Atlanta, the bottom half is much much lighter.

The Os don’t have that brutal lot hard top - yet - but they also have a deeper lineup that most of those teams.

i think the Os record comes down to having quantity over quality. A larger than usual amount of good players (quantity), but a lower amount of great players (quality).

That and the back end of the bullpen (especially Felix) are the two reasons for their record IMO.
