Kjerstad possibly promoted?

It was mentioned in the game thread that Kjerstad was taken out of the game after 1 at bat.  Sad that Mountcastle was injured.  Excited that maybe Kjerstad will get a chance at the majors as a result.  Could something happen other than Mountie being put on the IL?  Maybe a role player or reliever optioned, while the O's wait to see how bad Mountcastle injury is.

I think it will all depend on the imaging on Mountcastles shoulder tomorrow.  Even if it is not horrible the Orioles can NOT afford to play a man down just to keep his spot.  If he is going to need four or five games off you got to put Mounty on the IL.  

No room to mess around with playing without all our guys to limp a guy through a tough patch.  That aint possible now. 

Hope Kjerstad hits big and hits hard and makes a major splash.

Adding Kjerstad requires a 40 man roster move. So who would go or does Bautista get moved to the 60 day IL?

Ben McDonald said on the post-game show that he thinks Kjerstad is coming up, but of course we need to see what Mountcastle's status is tomorrow.

Ryan Mountcastle = Right handed

Heston Kjerstad = Right handed + Outfielder + needs to replace a player on the 40 man roster + not likely eligible for playoff roster

I'd say the odds are stacked against a call up. I didn't even mention the fact it's the biggest series of the entire season beginning, and that rookies usually take a while to adjust.

If Mountcastle can't go then I expect O'Hearn get most if not all the at bats at 1B.   

I would think Adley, Santander and Hicks to get most of the at bats at DH.

You can release Varva.  He won’t be here next season (or at least not on 40 man).  anyway so no point holding onto him

I think whoever comes up will just be strictly for bemch/reserve purposes

If it's an injury replacement, does that only work if the player is on the IL the rest of the season?
