We do this every year to justify not signing anyone. Even going back to the Ubaldo/Gallardo/Cobb days. Unless someone falls into our lap, and is left without a dance partner, then we don’t sign anyone other than one year deals like Gibson/Lyles/Kimbrel/Givens. Then we whine when we have to “overpay” in trades. How about we just go get “our guy” instead of just waiting for a player to fall to us to our perceived value in FA or trade? We’re not giving Eovaldi 3/60 so it’s hilarious that in the two Eovaldi threads that people thought he wasn’t good enough for us at 2/44. Sounds to me like it’s Burnes at our price point or we pivot to Gibson and/or a trade. Just my two cents. It’s just been the same song and dance since 2014. At least Big Pete extended CD and Jones, and spent on Gallardo and Ubaldo. Let’s see what Rubenstein has in him. Not to mention Big Petey buying Alomar, Palmeiro, Key, etc… back in the mid/late 90s. -

Another point of the article was Soto. How the dominoes will fall once he signs. Hopefully sooner than later. I’m hoping and somewhat expecting some major moves next week at the winter meetings.

Orioles related points -Orioles we’re in on Snell and Kikuchi. No pick was attractive. - doubtful Orioles can keep Burnes. Have extended offers to multiple FA SP’s. -Rangers top priority is to keep Eovaldi - Dodgers are best guess to keep Hernandez I didn’t really think Orioles would go after Teoscar Hernandez anyway that strong. No mention of any RH bats names or backup C but mentioned again that’s what Orioles are looking for.
