Mason Miller with the 5th best ERA?  He's pitched about 70 IP in his MiLB and MLB career combined.  Dude's a freak, but counting on him qualifying is a stretch.  The same sort of thing can be said for Shane Baz.

Game 7 of a series:  Kyle Bradish or David Peterson?

A guy with a 4.35 ERA in 122 career innings is ranked 11th overall by a projection system and you still manage to sound slighted on his behalf.

It's a projection system,  I didn't think he'd be that high.  It must have liked his underlying data.

I have always wondered if these projection systems take into account developments during the prior season.  For example, if a pitcher has a 5.00 ERA in the first half and a 3.00 ERA in the second half, is he treated any differently than a pitcher who had a 3.00 ERA in the first half and a 5.00 ERA in the second half?   And if they don’t, should they, at least for younger pitchers?  My instinct is that they should, but there could be evidence to the contrary.
