Not exactly suggesting a murderers row of prospect names here:

That article is just throwing out random names, in many cases guys who are trade candidates in general.  For example, the Sox would have no interest in Jonathan India even if the Reds would like to move him for SP.  If we move Cease, it will be for near major league ready prospects with extensive control.

And if you want more relevant names, I do like this list a bit better 😁

That site is great in terms of a place where rumors are compiled in one spot and it doesn’t mean you have to go 10 different sites.

That said, I do get the impression that they gotten some sources over the years and I just wonder if they are hearing that the returns won’t be as big as WS fans hope.

That said, I tend to side with the idea that this is more bs than truth but I do think it’s fair to say that it’s more likely WS fans will be disappointed with the return vs glad it happened.

I’d offer quantity ….Cowser, Willems, Povich, Norby, and Stowers

Judging by that Braves, it’s possible they value quantity.

Obviously these are 2 different types of players but they have nothing in their system or on their team, so they may want as many bullets as they can get.  We just don’t know.

I don’t think they’ll pursue quantity in a Cease trade.  We don’t have any other assets other than Robert who can land potential impact talent, so Getz will likely be swinging for the fences to some degree with Cease.

I tend to agree but guys like, for example, Norby, Stowers and Povich have upside to be impact players but there is obviously more risk and less of a certainty.

Do they want 1-2 guys with 3-5 WAR potential or do they want 3-5 guys with 1-5 WAR potential?

    • I think it’s like when our fans are terrified because a team brings up a spot starter from AAA and we fear they are going to turn into Cy Young.
    • “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” — A Bartlett Giamatti https://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html

By any measure, Cowser is leading AL rookies in WAR, and it’s not that close. “

    • Every year at the end of the season, I feel a little melancholy. For me, the end of summer is not the start of school or the arrival of fall, but the end of baseball season. Today is the last day of a long song, and I will miss it. I know we have at least four more days, but those are in a different category, although I will miss that too when it ends. During the darkest days of the season, I posted frequently that the worst day of baseball is still baseball. When the Os played terrible, I would go focus on the Brewers or the A’s or Mariners(who were almost as frustrating as the Os) and follow along with former Orioles, rooting for all of them. That will all stop by tonight, and I will miss it until next February, when pitchers and catchers report. If I’m still here, I’ll be here.    Go Os…
    • We have to wait and see. But it shouldn’t matter as you have to beat whomever you play.
