Do other sites, other than MLB, have Ortiz as a top 50 prospect?

MLBPipline has him at 87, No. 66 prospect at FanGraphs, No. 88 at Baseball America.

Still 2 top 100 prospects….Lin didn’t rate anywhere in a search. 4.28 1.2 WHIP K per IP at AA. pretty good prospect but no where near what the guy for the Sox posting here is expecting. I thin’ Sox fans are going to be disappointed

I think the Fangraphs ranking (66) is from before the start of last season.

Ortiz was #63 on Baseball Americas most recent top 100, which shows a date of 9/12/23 on their site.

He’s #50 on MLB Pipeline.  Not sure what you’re looking at.

Yeah …it was a blurb from MASn in April. So he’s elevated

A slick-fielding shortstop that can also play second and third base, Ortiz is ranked No. 87 currently in the Baseball America top 100 and No. 91 via MLBPipeline.com. BA ranks him as the O’s No. 8 prospect and he is No. 7 on the MLBPipeline.com list of the club’s top 30 prospects.

I was saying in the other thread, if they sign Uwasawa, it might be bc Dean Kremer will be part of a trade. In order to sure up their rotation with a safe controllable options, the White Sox might request a pitcher like Kremer

Ortiz, one of Westburg/Kjerstad/Cowser, & Kremer for Cease probably gets it done

Very generous on the O's part IMO.

I highly doubt Elias would do that.

Good grief.  Why would we do that?

I probably wouldn’t give up that much for Cease.  I’ve already said I’d give up Cowser and Ortiz, but if there’s a third piece, it’s not going to be nearly as valuable as Kremer.

2 top 100 prospects and a solid mid rotation MLB starter with 4 years of control for 2 seasons of Cease. You can almost count on one of them being a low 4ERA and possibly both. I’m glad you’re not the GM. Elias laughs at Getz and hangs up the phone IMO

Honestly, I’d give up Cowser, a guy in the 10-15 range (per MLB list)a 25-30 guy, a lottery ticket type. If that’s  not enough then pass. If we get this guy we will almost certainly be disappointed by his actual performance at the end of each season.

And we're supposed to believe we MUST give up two top global 50 prospects.

These takes are wild.  Professional baseball insiders claim the Sox will get a “monster” package.  Close eyes and pretend like it was never mentioned.

Random fake Twitter insider makes up a clearly fake trade that is ridiculously one-sided for the team they support and all of a sudden it’s “see, the price won’t be that much”.

    • I think it’s like when our fans are terrified because a team brings up a spot starter from AAA and we fear they are going to turn into Cy Young.
    • “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” — A Bartlett Giamatti https://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html

By any measure, Cowser is leading AL rookies in WAR, and it’s not that close. “

    • Complete no figure post KS is resetting thier starters for the WC Round whoever it is. Why is he terrfied? Youre team is in a pennant race and you dont have to face thier top starter
    • Every year at the end of the season, I feel a little melancholy. For me, the end of summer is not the start of school or the arrival of fall, but the end of baseball season. Today is the last day of a long song, and I will miss it. I know we have at least four more days, but those are in a different category, although I will miss that too when it ends. During the darkest days of the season, I posted frequently that the worst day of baseball is still baseball. When the Os played terrible, I would go focus on the Brewers or the A’s or Mariners(who were almost as frustrating as the Os) and follow along with former Orioles, rooting for all of them. That will all stop by tonight, and I will miss it until next February, when pitchers and catchers report. If I’m still here, I’ll be here.    Go Os…
    • We have to wait and see. But it shouldn’t matter as you have to beat whomever you play.
