Nevin and now Guzman. Elias must really think he's gonna get some of our AAA corner IF depth traded away

Guzman converted to pitching and throws high 90's.  Struck out the side in a ST game for the Giants but developed a sore forearm and missed the season.  A Boras client.  Probably goes to Norfolk to see if he can throw strikes.

This is a strawman argument by Elias.  No one is asking him to reimagine the team.  But staying still because "we won 101 games last year" is not a recipe for success, and comes off as very lazy.

Not saying Elias is lazy, and I do think he is working on ways to improve the team, but this quote does not make him look good.

You’re taking it out of context of everything else he said in that interview.  I’m absolutely fine with everything he said.

Anyway, at this point I’m more interested in what happens, not what is said.

Looks like David Robertson price point ends up $2M less than Craig Kimbrel as probably this winter's best apples-to-apples guy for 1 year of 2024 AL competition.

Without knowing details, it seems like Robertson not Aroldis was somewhat of a deliberate choice for Chris Young, though of course there's the potential any contender may have to get Aroldis for 2024's stretch if the Pirates don't work out.

Chapman will almost undoubtedly be available at this years deadline.

Chapman gets passed around like a hot potato. One must ask themselves why.

Who knows, but knowing they can get a return at the deadline is deffintely a huge reason why the pirates signed him.

Should be a crazy weekend since we are in day 9.   Any minute the market should open up and need to keep refreshing.  I don’t know who knows left on predictions.  Reporters, insiders, or weatherman.

This probably deserves its own thread

Tough to compete with the big spending Royals. The Royals should be at about 120 million next year.  They have been bad just as long as us and have done a very poor job in getting much from their prospects so now spending money to try and stay out of basement.
