His career lefties have a 610 OpS vs him.  It was even lower the last 2 years.

Thats a fact I didn’t know about him until I was going through some numbers about 20 Min ago.

And Milwaukees stadium plays really similarly to OPaCY.  Big selling point to Burnes are those lefty stats.

Yankees offered 6/150. I think he’s either going to get that, or higher AAV than that 25 but for fewer years. But not 30/yr for 5+ years.

I saw "Orioles" trending on Twitter, assumed that the sale had fallen apart somehow, and instead it's because we traded for a former Cy Young winner in his 20s. This is like if I ran into Ana de Armas at a 7/11 and she asked me if I wanted to get dinner.

Looking through the Brewers board to see their reaction, and most of 'em are pissed at the return. Before the full details were released several of them were hoping for either Mayo or Holliday going back to Milwaukee. Ya no.

This deal tells me the new ownership wants to go for it in 2024. They want to make a splash out of the gate. I will be surprised if this is the only high-profile deal.

The only reason I really mention this is the idea of an extension. I don’t think I would go 6-8 years at 30+M for him. He will be 30 the first year of his new deal and he is already showing signs of decline. Now, don’t get me wrong..his stats now are still really good and this was an absolutely amazing trade but I do think you hold off on extension talk until you see him.

I doubt he signs one anyway unless you put really dumb money on the table.

These are not "red flags." His Pitching run value was 96th percentile. Even if he's "fallen" a bit since being the best pitcher in baseball for a few seasons, he was still one of teh best. Look at these numbers:

If these are red flags, sign me up for some more red flags!

One of McDermott, Povich, or Johnson is good for the 5th spot.   We’ll still have surplus to deal from in trade or more payroll ceiling to work with.   Burnes buys us a year.
