The only negative sign that I've seen suggested is that he and Gunnar have played hardly any games together as the double play combo. You'd think that might be a priority if they intend Holliday to be starting 2B.

We've come to the point in the calendar where nearly on one hand we can count the number of days until whatever the decision is needs to be communicated.

Over/Under - will we know if Holliday has made the team before the NCAA men's basketball tournament field is down to 32 on Saturday morning?

Bonus round - if it is the good one, will the production values of the Holliday reveal surpass Adley Rutschman in a manager's office folding chair?

I could be misremembering but last year I don't think we knew the OD roster until the morning of OD. Maybe the day before?

Not sure, but we purchased Danny Coulombe on March 27 and the season opened March 30.  I have a feeling there could be a flurry of moves between now and Opening Day.  I don’t think we hear anything until late Monday at the very earliest.

I just looked it up. It was announced the morning of OD. The press release on MLB.com is dated 3/30 and Camden Chat has a post from 10:21am that day as well.

I have a feeling we're not going to have to wait until the morning of 3/28 to hear that Holliday is on the OD roster.

In the beginning of Spring Training Mike Elias made comments of how Jackson didn't get much time in AAA and he didn't face much quality left handed pitching and that they would like for him to gain that experience before he's brought up. He didn't say it as outright in those words but that is what he eluded to. Those remarks made me believe they wanted to start him in Norfolk for a few more weeks/months before calling him up.

But with that said, he also said they would guve Holliday a fair chance to make the roster qnd Jackson has made the most of his opportunities in Spring Training.

It really could go either way and be a legit decision.

There won't be much production value if they send him down.   Actually, that might be "must see tv" but we'll never see that one.

Ha, the Adley reveal had about as much suspense as when you are opening a present that you asked for. I feel like the Holliday decision really could go either way.

Any idea where that interview or those comments can be viewed?    Apparently, I missed them.

The O’s are having a public workout at Camden Ysrds on Tuesday 3/26, so I’d think they might have the big reveal then.

People were talking about the HR and the hustle single, but his ABs were fantastic.  3-2 on multiple ABs including the hustle single and a BB in second AB.  Folks have pointed to the high strike-out totals.  5 ks came in the first 7ABs of the spring.  Remove those and you are looking at something closer to his historical line.  He's been better than I expected this spring, and I expected him to make the team.  

I mentioned this after the 1st ST game and I've watched several ST games since, and I've felt the same about each of his at bats - to me, he looks like he's pressing to impress a bit this year. He's taking big cuts. Last year, he was probably just happy to be up, and he looked good. He wasn't in over his head. Not a huge sample, but he drew 4 walks to 4 ks in 2023 ST. He was also basically 1/1 in AAA and basically every stop. I've been hoping all along that he makes OD....I think his eye is good enough (and learning curve short enough) right now that he should be in the OD starting lineup. I'm hoping he makes it and that settles him some. I'd hate to see him get sent down for service time only to press to get sent back up and start out in a funk.

Sportsfan mentioned it a page or two back also, but to me, Urias has to be odd man out. I don't dislike him and know he has value, but.......somebody's gotta go.

I agree with that.  I think he's taken the approach that he has to hit to make the team.  He's shown he has a good eye, and the team knows that, but the question marks lie in being able to hit advanced pitching.  I think he's shown he can.

There’s a pretty drastic difference between the quality of pitchers Jackson has faced this spring while making 14 starts, vs. 2023 where he was basically playing in the late innings.
