I'd kick the tires on that honestly.

This makes so much sense now. You could make this move, have it disappear from the news in 3 days, and still have a lot of flexibility to bring on one more power reliever and maybe make a play on more starting pitcher. THings like this show the need for depth.

If I'm in charge:

Sign Bauer, 1 year league min + incentives (hold him to his word)

Trade McKenna, Urias, Webb to Boston for Jensen and salary

Trade Cowser, Norby, Baumann, Haskin to MIL for Devin Williams

Sign Ryu for 1 year 9 mil

1/3 is indeed a significant number.

I think the argument was the statement all pitchers should just get TJ surgery from the start.  Which they should not, for various reasons, including this stat.

Having TJ surgery doesn't prevent you from needing it in the future.

Why would Boston make that trade?

That’s not the point guy. The point is thousands of pitchers have pitched 10+ years in professional baseball and left the game not needing the surgery. This isn’t a difficult point I’m trying to make. What’s the issue?

Attention body language and speech interpretation experts! We need everyone's panic/BS detection analysis from Elias' remarks!

They are all busy watching Fujinami's bullpen session.

Yeah this just doesn't justify your statement that (and I'm paraphrasing) "we absolutely know TJS is where this is going", in my opinion.

None of us know the details of the sprain, or the actual success rate of PRP technology in 2024. This study was circulated on twitter this morning and it shows reasonably high odds for success for low-grade sprains:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33796592/

I have no idea how credible it is. But given Elias' comments that they're pursuing this approach with some level of optimism, I'm just not ready to say TJS is absolutely where this is going.

He certainly didn’t project someone who is super happy imo.
