The not willing to sign here is an old excuse. If you pay them enough they'll sign. I agree on Taillon, but there were plenty of FA pitchers who signed for less than four years who would have made this team better. That said, I'm not convinced the Orioles seriously pursued any of the notable FA pitchers. -

A live Orioles transaction to stress test Baseball Trade Values - they were forecasting Hernaiz for just a few million surplus, and Irvin to be in the $15mm range, so their algorithm will think BAL did well. But OAK has always had particular tastes in its future assets, and same algorithm hated their take in the Murphy deal. A mid-range Orioles prospect pulling a return like this perhaps a hopeful indicator for our kids getting valued well by another Club in real life, at least in one instance. It seems to me their algorithm bakes prospect failure rates into its outputs somewhat strongly, as probably it should from an actuarial perspective. -

Until the O's announce a signing of Bauer I don't see much point in debating...but yes, I agree with you. But they saw the evidence and listened to the complaint and interviewed her and then dropped the charge. Bauer could express remorse without admitting any wrong doing. He already claims everything was consensual even if it is everything that has been speculated. Someone is going to sign him and he is arguably the best pitcher available this entire offseason. Certainly for $750K or so he is an upgrade that would be a clear #1 and would fit in the financial constraints this team seems to live under. Do you want him around your wife or daughter....well of course not. But he has been punished and done his time and is going to get a chance to play again. As I said earlier, I would expect my GM to speak to him and see if he could be a fit. He may not want to prove himself here, but he is going to land somewhere and I think it would be foolish to not investigate the opportunity. -

Exactly. Hernaiz was never going to be a SS for us. Plus, 40 man issues. Those are two factors that you have to consider. -
It's fine because he's making absolutely nothing and should be non awful depth. I mean better than giving Wacha 10+ million. Sure would be nice to, at some point in our lifetimes, sign or trade for an actual TOR. -

I like Hernaiz, and in a lot of the dark years he would’ve been the type of prospect we would cling hope to like the original EdRod. Hernaiz was never going to be a SS here, so it’s great that he’ll get to play in the PCL eventually. I’m rooting for the guy.
