The thing is, there's not enough playing time on this roster for him to NOT be a platoon guy. He's not going to start in the outfield, and he can't help you in CF like Cowser. So his best role would be coming off the bench to face a RHP. And they won't trust him to succeed there, nor is that setting him up for success. They really need to trade him.

Not really disagreeing, just saying Stowers isn't really a splits guy.

If you're looking to platoon Hays, then Cowser's your guy.  If you're looking to platoon Mullins, then Hays/Mateo seems to be the hope.

It's obvious. The bullpen is in really bad shape my man. At least for a team with WS aspirations.

Yea but we have a guy who has been really good in 5 ST innings and despite a mediocre career before that, we really should be valuing those 5 innings!!!

Do we trust an OF of Stowers, Hays, Mayo v. a tough lefty?

Are you talking lefty bat, or pitcher?

That would be a rough defensive outfield.

Against a left pitcher.  Mostly at home where RF & CF isn't too challenging.  Mayo still hasn't had many reps in the OF.  It'll be curious if they start to give him more.  I think that will be telling.   If he's on the 26 man, he's going to ABs.

Just looking at Fangraphs’ positional power rankings, here’s the bottom quartile at 2B and 3B (starting with the worst):

2B: CHW, PIT, WSH, COL, KCR, MIL, LAA,  DET

3B: WSH, COL, ARi, DET, KCR, PHI, NYM, TOR

Seems to me that the Royals and Tigers are both trying to compete and could use a guy like Urias.
