That's probably just Tony Tates. He's that guy that gives 100% until the moment he doesn't have to anymore and then he goes into straight meander mode. He is a man that will take his time when he can; my guess is he enjoys laying down for a second after the dives and slides if the play is over.

I don’t know why people keep lumping O’Hearn in on posts like this. The guy had one of the few over .800 OPS on the team last year. He’s not remotely the problem.

I heard that he was initially scheduled to be DH, but told Hyde, “if Burnes doesn’t want me to catch him, then I don’t wanna play!”  Then he was seen softly sobbing in a corner of the locker room.

No lineup yet, but here's something I'd like to see vs LHP (assuming no Hays due to injury):

Westburg - 3B
Gunnar - SS
Adley - DH
Mounty - 1B
Santander - RF
Mullins - CF
McCann - C (he's been pretty hot, and split up the lefties here)
Cowser - LF 
Mateo - 2B

Ugh, I don’t like Urias playing 1B. It's an angle off the bat that he's not comfortable with or as solid playing. Most of his fielding mistakes in 2023 were when they had him playing 1B. To be honest I think Santander showed last season that he was probably more capable on that base.

He played it last year, and did well.  So, it's not that interesting.  But batting 5th?  Not loving that.  It's like Mounty was in the lineup originally, and Hyde lost his eraser or was too lazy to re-do the lineup card and bat Urias lower.  "Umm, I'll just put him in here....."

Or, Urias somehow has some stats against Detmers that I'm not aware of.....but Sigbot is.

I love you man, but Urias made all of his errors at 3B last season, and none while playing first base.  What fieldling mistakes were you referring to, or was this just a gut reaction?  Would you rather Santander at First and Urias in RF?

I know Hays was sick, but has he also picked up an injury? With the Orioles depth why not put Hays on the 10 Day IL. 
 

Edit: it’s a calf injury as mentioned on this thread .

      I'm more of a Prime Number guy, I'm happy enough with 89. Round numbers are for suckers.   Pretty disheartening they haven't managed to reach that relatively meager goal in 40 years.

      The weird thing about our bullpen is that they rarely blow leads.   They have a 69% save rate, 4th highest in baseball.  They make it scary, but generally, when they have the lead, they get the job done.   Where they are really bad is keeping games close when we’re down a run or two, last night being a classic example of that.   This year’s team has 32 comeback wins, compared to 48 last year.   Why is that?   Part of it is obviously on the offense, but part of it is that the bullpen doesn’t keep us in striking distance when we’re behind.   One way you can tell this is by the W/L records of the starters and the bullpen.  Last year, the starters were 57-40, this year they’re 60-49.   The starter got the decision 12 more times this year than last year, including 9 more losses (with 3 games to play).   That tells you that when the team is losing when the starter is pulled, they keep losing.  Meanwhile, the relievers were 44-21 last year, 28-22 now. They’re not picking up wins because they don’t give the offense a chance to catch up and get the win for the bullpen guy.

      I do not disagree with above posts.  Also I am pretty sure that this time last season, the Texas Rangers Hangout was saying the exact same things as the Rangers Pen.  Point being, you never know until you know.  The pen is shaky, but is capable of putting together a solid run from time to time.
