I heard that he was initially scheduled to be DH, but told Hyde, “if Burnes doesn’t want me to catch him, then I don’t wanna play!”  Then he was seen softly sobbing in a corner of the locker room.

Has anyone looked it up to see when the last time Adley caught Burnes?  I'd be curious to know.

I'm fascinated by stuff like this. Like, does Burnes go to Adley and outright tell him he's more comfortable with McCann? Is it unspoken and Hyde handles it? But then if so, if you're Adley wouldn't you rather Burnes tell you himself? It's interesting. I've never played baseball, so I wonder how stuff like that is handled behind the scenes. Not suggesting there's any drama, I'm just curious how it's communicated or if it just isn't.

He caught the previous 4 games for Burnes before the recent streak of McCann starting.  In those 4 games they scored 4 runs total.  2 Adley solos accounted for half the runs.  Since McCann has caught him they have scored 6,6,6,10.  Maybe just a little superstitious in seeing those numbers keeping Hyde going with Burnes.

They're professional. If Burnes prefers McCann, they've had an adult conversation about it. This isn't 10u where Adley's dad is going to get mad that his son isn't catching the best pitcher on the team every time he pitches. Then, poison his son against the team and move him to the Toronto Blue Jays right before they play each other again.

Because the primary catcher SHOULD be catching the majority of each starter's games.   All things being equal.

The orioles don't have a 50/50 split with McCann and Adley splitting the duties evenly.   Granted it is about 60/40 at the moment.
