Grayson pitched on May 18 and Baumann had to be DFA’d for that. Kremer pitched on May 20. Presumably this cropped up during Kremer’s last start.

He’s been nursing that blister for weeks.  I even started this thread on May 12 when Grayson was due back:

Wouldn't they just put Suarez back in the rotation since they called up 2 relievers?

They could, but I think it was deliberate to push back Povich a day so that he lines up for the turn that Kremer is missing, and I’m reading into that. And if that’s the plan, it still makes sense to have the extra fresh reliever today, and Tate or Vespi gets optioned for Povich tomorrow.

Maybe it will be Suarez or Irvin and they just want Povich on turn to be able to step into that rotation spot in the future or something, but I don’t think it’s coincidental that they pushed him back.

Hello.  It’s not the blister according to them.  It’s a triceps strain.

I watched Cade pitch tonight on the Worcester broadcast.  The announcers were gushing over him.  He didn’t have his good stuff or command but battled.  He gave up 2 HR early and then settled in.  He was at 73 pitches in the 5th when Holliday booted a routine ball that cost him about ~10+ pitches or he’d likely have gone 7.  It was good to see him battle without his A stuff.  He still hasn’t given up more than 3 runs in a game on the season.

Povich hasn’t been as dominant in May as he was in April, but he’s still been very solid and hasn’t had any major blow ups.  He’s managed to pitch 6 innings three times this month, so he’s covering the length you’d like to see.  He now has 20 AAA starts under his belt (10 last year).  He’s at the point in terms of both experience and performance where I wouldn’t feel he was being rushed if he got called up, but I also don’t think it’s mandatory to push him to the majors.  He’s available if needed IMO.

It was.

I really appreciate your insight from watching the games, not just here but in many of the MiL threads. It adds a lot of meaningful context that exists between the lines in the box score and even PBP.

I guess Mike Elias saying tip of our tongues circa 1615 was kind of a jinx on Povich letting a bunch of runs in circa 1930 yesterday.

We'll still see by next week if 30 games in 31 days becomes 5 rotations of 6 straightaway, or tries to stick to 6 rotations of 5 awhile longer.
