DocJJ
The big muscular senior is having one of the best offensive seasons in all of college ball right now. He's solid defensively and leading the planet in HR (12!). His average is well above .400. Too bad we don't really need an outfielder....
CrimsonTribe
I was just going to ask about this guy. I saw on the Rap Sheet that he's been named SEC and National Player of the week twice. He's apparently murdering the ball. I need to get down to Tuscaloosa to see him in person.

Big Mac
Matthes hit 2 more HR in Sunday's game vs. Ole Miss. His season total is up to 15.
DocJJ
with 7 RBI's. Gives him an NCAA leading 19 for the year. Interesting that there's not much draft buzz on him so far. I haven't come across anything in my sources...I wonder if there's holes in his game or serious red flags? There's no way he can lead college baseball in home runs and be "flying under the radar"... Richmond Bird 9
Can he play 1st ?? A BIG bat is a BIG bat. Or is this too much of a reach at 5 ??

Guys do it every year. Last year there was a first baseman from William & Mary, a couple years ago there were 2 who led, one didn't even get drafted. Just guys that are average players and don't get a second look, then they will have a power surge, or a real hot streak and have really good stats. Just goes to show that statistics do not a prospect make.

There is a big difference from the schools Alabama plays and William/Mary (JMU alum here).
Stotle
Some hitters being discussed on these teams... RPI as of Today UNC - 2 Arizona St. - 12 Georgia - 21 Alabama - 42 USC - 62 ASU (#1 in Coaches Poll) plays at Arkansas (RPI 3, #1 in CBN Poll) for their in-week series. Last night Arkansas won 7-3. Catcher Carlos Ramirez hit his 11th HR (he's another Sun Devil to watch over the last two months). Kipnis was 1-3 with a walk. Final game today at 7:35 EST. DocJJ
Matthes is a big-time prospect. His throws from right field have been clocked at 94 MPH. He's made highlight reel catch after highlight reel catch. He was a highly regarded prospect in high school. He's fast, and has been timed a quick 6 second 60. Agreed, he's too big a reach to pick with the 5th pick, but he'll be gone by the 2nd round.

Looks like anywhere from late 1st to 2nd round, depending on the rest of the season. He was pretty highly touted in HS, you are right.
