Gold Glove Infield?

Recommended Posts

I believe, especially when you consider the variation among fielding metrics for the same player, in most cases the difference between the GG winner and the other very good fielders at that position is minimal. Sure there are exceptions: Manny at 3B., maybe Kiermeier in CF.

The Orioles have what I would call elite defenders at SS, 2B and 3B (and a very good fielder at 1B). Any one of the three might win a GG in the next couple of years.

Statcast rates the Nootbar catch of Stowers' liner that turned into a double play as a 95% probability catch.   Really?   I absolutely do not believe that ball is caught 19 times out of 20.

Interesting to hear the Cards announcer say "He can't get it" right as the ball falls into Nootbaar's glove. He got duped just like Mullins.

Unless he got a super slow jump on it, but that's not what it looked like with the naked eye.
