You see how tall a player is and where his knees are when he walks up to the plate.  You've normally got a while to do so before he sinks into his batter's crouch.  It's not like he's growing and shrinking in height during the at bat.

What drove me crazy in that AB is that Gausman put two fastballs in an identical place, clearly outside to Gunnar. The first was called a ball, the second called a strike. A clear example of why Robo Ump is important.
