Povich headed to Toronto

I have relatively low expectations for Povich at MLB level, as I did for Suarez. I'm concerned about Bradish...if we lose him to long term injury, we are in big trouble . Hopefully Kremer will return soon, and pitch well..Povich likely wont be a long term rotation pitcher, but if he can give us 4 decent innings (if he starts) Thursday..it would be a plus.

You've been pining for him to come up, Roy. You got your wish. :)

They were, and the Orioles were remarkably healthy. Player and especially pitchers break. We were on borrowed time with Means and potentially Bradish, but luckily the orioles have found starting pitching depth with Suarez and Irvin.

Irvin has been everything that we'd hope Means would be this year so far. Suarez has come out of basically nowhere and become a gift.

On the farm, Povich and McDermott to a lesser extent look like they can contribute this year. Overall, the Orioles are in good shape even if God forbid they lose Bradish for the year at some point.

Nice take

Since it's not my money, technically I shouldn't care (although we'll be treating someone else for THEIR 60th on next year's trip to Vegas so don't want to set the precedent too high).

But honestly, I just can't imagine that 10 ounces of meat could be so delicious that it would be worth $128.   I've never had Wagyu so who knows.

At the last minute I put the Wagyu filet in because I have never had it, but at 10 oz I knew I probably wasn't making the best value choice.

Enjoy the trip, Steve,  I had my 60th a few months ago.

I don't love how this is phrased, "could potentially be an opening in the rotation".

Starting to think they are evaluating Bradish and maybe considering giving him an IL stint.

Who is this guy? Would one expect him to have inside info? If not he’s just speculating.

His control issues are overblown on here.  As I’ve stated a few times now, he was a control command guy in college.  His control issues were a result of working on his pitch design.

Not sure exactly what you mean by overblown.  He’s certainly improved his walk rate but there’s still concern about strike percentage and pitch count.  He’s had 11 starts.  He completed 6 innings 4 times.  Not bad but many times he’s run up high pitch counts by or before the 5th inning.  That’s not going to play with more discerning ML hitters.  Hopefully, he’s got his A game tomorrow.

4/25  4.2 IP 94 pitches

5/12    4.1 IP 96 pitches

5/31     3.0 IP 77 pitches

My main question for his debut is if  we will be able to recognize what HuskerFan’s new screen name is?

It’s gotta be eating him up that he can’t come gloat about his bold prediction of Povich not being traded, based on his inside information of the Orioles telling Povich that they like him.

I don't know what threads is, but Andy Kostka is the beat reporter who covers the Orioles for the Baltimore Banner.

Anyone who isn't at least WONDERING if there is a physical reason for Bradish to be pushed back a day has their head in the sand.   He didn't have a high pitch count last time, although he did have some high pitch count stress innings.    You have to think that something is at least a little sore and they are being cautious here, given Bradish's situation (recovering non-surgically from a UCL strain).

I figured they'd just go with HüskerDüFan.

I already expressed concern about it, but I'm also not going to go hysterical because Joe Schmoe on Twitter/Instagram/Threads/whatever said there's a possible opening in the rotation. Thanks for the info about Andy Kostka.

He's at 61% Strikes on the season (62% before his clunker).  He has a 1.112 WHIP and 11.9 K/9 with a 3.57 SO/W rate.  His misses are competitive.  He's not a guy struggling to find the plate.  He's throwing pitches from strike to ball to get whiff & has the ability to adjust.  When he doesn't have his 'A' game he competes.

If they push Bradish back one day, that creates an opening in the rotation.  It doesn’t mean he’s injured.  Of course, he’s a pitcher so his arm could fall off tomorrow.

Why was he clearly not physically right? Because he struggled?

The way he struggled. Wild, mostly wild high and with reduced velocity. Just my observation/opinion no need to get all defensive that he may in fact be seriously injured.

Well if a CornFan joins up and the first thing the poster does is call Sports Guy Mr. Boxscore, I think we'll know.
