His angle was a little off. It carried more than he thought.  He also might have been slowed by the wetness.

Sometimes the strategy works, sometimes it doesn't.

Regardless, you are putting another run on board... If you give up one run, you still have a reasonable chance to tie it in the bottom half. Multiple runs is a different story.

Don't put the extra run on board with the new extra inning rules.
