That doesn't mean Elias wants to add Mayo to the 40.

I get that is an extra hurdle but I think most would be surprised if he isn’t added by the end of the year so I don’t think adding him now is a big deal.

I hope Mayo is coming with up with Kjerstad. For Kjerstad to get enough playing time to make it worth bringing him up some other players on the roster are going to have to get less at bats.

Agreed. When Mayo comes up, either Mateo or Urias have to be released.

I don’t see enough at bats for either. 
 

My one thought is perhaps they want to rest some guys a day here or there. Long stretch. Looks like 5/7 RHP this week.    
Cowser/Santander/Mullins/O’Hearn/Adley  all sit one game they usually play.

If Kjerstad comes up for Maton that gives us another bat that we don't need but limits our infield options basically to Urias 3B/Mateo bench. I guess he would just be in the Stowers role. Maybe an audition for the trade market?

It should be Mayo, but if it's Heston, DFA Maton but give Kjerstad Hays ABs vs righties

We need pitching.  I like Heston.  But we can stay with AS for $5 M more a year and be fine at that position for at least 3 years.

Heston is 25.  We don't get prized for having good farm systems.  And you have to trade good players to get good players.

Corner infield/outfield bat first, defense limited players are pretty readily available.

And odds of all three of ours being elite at the major league level is slim.
