  1. 1. Should the O's be interested in Joe Koshansky?

He has been called a poor man's Ryan Howard in the past and he has similar #'s to Howard. I also said he's not Howard, but he's at least worth a claim.

Like I said, the Rangers who are already loaded at 1B picked him up, so why couldn't the Orioles find a spot for him?

A quick google search of "poor man's Ryan Howard" turned this up:

Have you guys seen Koshansky play? He's a huge, ungainly dude who can hit the ball a mile, but he strikes out, and looks terrible doing it, about 40 percent of the time. I'd love it if he'd turn into a poor man's Ryan Howard, but I wouldn't bet on it.

So yes, he has in fact been referred to as the poor man's Ryan Howard.

You've also had this statement proven false by someone else. Yet, you've chosen to ignore it completely. You haven't corrected yourself or acknowledged Mark's correction. Why is that? At this point, you seem to clearly be trolling. Either that or you're so blinded by your hatred of MacPhail since he didn't say Tex or Smoak or send you secret messages in your cracker jacks or something that you just can't see reality anymore.

So I didn't respond to the post, that doesn't mean I'm trolling, perhaps I just missed it. And I know you love hearing it so I'll admit I was wrong. I looked at one set of stats and didn't see that he'd played the year before in the majors.

I wouldn't be against us picking up Koshansky, but it should be pretty clear to you that this guy isn't valued at all.

Then why did Texas grab him with their glut of 1B man talent? Texas also has the best minor league system in baseball.

Who was the really muscular guy with "great" minor league stats that Texas released in Spring Training last season? You know the one that I argued vehemently with you about because he couldn't get around on a fastball and you swore we'd live to rue the day we passed on him? I honestly can't even remember his name because I don't think he ever surfaced again. Don't you get tired of coming out strong about things and being completely wrong about those things again and again?

That would be Jason Botts who actually did really well in Japan last year. The Ham Fighters still have his rights, but I suspect he'll find his way back to the majors.

Don't you get tired of coming out strong about things and being completely wrong about those things again and again?

And I've been right about more things than I've been wrong about.

I've been right about Payton, Millar and Hayden Penn (thus far) and it seems so far in ST I was right about Bergesen. I was wrong about the Markakis extension and Moore being claimed but I'm sure you'll provide more examples.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen you admit to being wrong about Millar at all, and yet I've never called you out on that, until now.

What were you right about on Millar and Payton? That they're mediocre?

I said they wouldn't be worth any draft picks because of poor production, and they'd also take away playing time from Adam Jones, Luke Scott and Scott Moore. Scott was forced into a platoon role and was replaced defensively numerous times to put Payton in which probably caused us to lose games. Moore was sent down partially because Millar blocked 1B for him. Payton did take away time from Jones, but that one is a technicality due to Jonesy's injury.

I also said Millar was not a cleanup hitter before the season started and he did nothing to prove me wrong and was eventually removed after a month and a half at the spot.

I also made the prediction of Luis Hernandez literally throwing games away and being replaced, but I think we could all see that one coming, so I won't take credit for that one.

I mean seriously, those aren't even real questions. That's why I asked. And, for example, nobody's saying that it's probable that Penn is going to be a good ML starter. They're saying that there's a small but real chance he will be, and we have nothing to lose by letting him start. You ignore all shades other than black and white, though.

So you get the ones that everyone else gets right, and the ones that are less than 100% slam dunk you have trouble with? Seems like.

I would say the majority on here were fine with Millar at cleanup and thought that Millar would net a draft pick if we kept him. So no not everybody got those right...

Wow . . . I'd love to see the world through your eyes. It must be very different from my own experience.

Yeah Trea, you were right about Payton and Millar. So was everyone else, including MacPhail, since he isn't even the one who signed them.

You're awesome.

Hey I'm just saying I haven't been wrong about everything, so my points do have merit.

MacPhail missed the boat on Koshanksy, plain and simple. Now we get to see if he was right or not...

No, I don't say your points have no merit because you're wrong about everything. But having been right about some trivial things doesn't mean I have to give the same respect to your frequently (and demonstrably!) uninformed and biased opinions that I do to other people who back their arguments up with facts and something besides the same party line.

Also, he only missed the boat if he was wrong. Can you stop using such hyperbolic language just to pick a fight?
