This team truly doesn't deserve to make it. For example Detroit at this point is more qualified then Baltimore

The counter argument to that is that every game matters, whether it be March 29th or September 13th. But yeah it sure feels that way.

Forget the NYY. The Orioles are now only 2 games up on the Royals for the first WC. The difference between the first WC and the other two is substantial: the other two face off in a one-game playoff. Your postseason can be over if you have one bad night.

Both WC series are best of 3. The difference would be that we would go on the road if we are 5 or 6 instead of 4.

Quite honestly I don't care anymore. I've thrown in the towel on this season. Whether they are 4, 5 or 6 I'm expecting another sweep anyway.

This was the point I tried to make here a few weeks back to deaf ears. Will we make the playoffs? Very, very likely short of an epic collapse. But we'll be making the playoffs with our tail between our legs.

The second half of the season has been nothing short of disastrous. I'd understand if it was mostly due to injury but here's the thing. It's our pitching that's been bitten worse by the injury bug. And for the most part, they've done reasonably well all things considered.

Our hitting on the other hand has been feeble to say the least. I mean bottom of the league clutch hitting. Home run or bust. On days we hit home runs we might win 7-4. On days we don't hit homers we struggle to even score a couple runs. And it's not like we're facing Cy Young every night.

Getting Westburg back will help, no doubt. But can guys like Adley, O'Hearn, Holliday and others break out of their mega slumps? Will the defense tighten up? You can't make the amount of infield errors we do against good teams in the playoffs. I'm hoping for the best but for now, the team doesn't look like they're going to break out of this funk anytime soon.

The hitting coaches need to be replaced, and we need to get Holt and Holmes back to running the pitching department too.

We also need to put more of an emphasis on player/team chemistry. Alot of these problems started when they began breaking up combinations of players who had always enjoyed playing together and replaced them with strangers that weren't as good.

I agree that our philosophy needs to change, but what hitting coach is making Slater, Rivera, Jimenez, Soto, Maton, O'Hearn a good hitter? There is a serious lack of talent right now on the offensive side of the ball, with the lack of chemistry to also noted. This doenst feel like "our team" or "our guys"

Chris Holt is the Director of Pitching, still. Holmes is no longer here, though.
