Also what made me so skeptical of the 2 Philly deals is them pushing out Seranthony and Soto. World series contenders don't get rid of BP pieces if they are good .

I didn't say that. I have said that once you get in to the tournament, it's a craps shoot. Scott shortens the game and would likely/possible be the closer on this team. Bautista is back next year so the fact that he will be a FA is lessened I think. Just my opinion.

"The biggest project the Orioles have tasked Rogers with is improving his slider, a pitch he has thrown less often than any other in his repertoire each of the last two seasons. Most notably, Rogers has raised his release point with the pitch by over two inches. While that takes away from his extension — how close to the plate he releases the ball — it also allows the pitch to break more before it reaches the batter.

So far, the results are striking. Opponents are hitting .167 against the pitch while swinging and missing a staggering 48.1% of the time. Over those three quality starts, nobody has touched it. While Rogers’ overall velocity has been down a couple of ticks, Ramsey attributes that to the difference in intensity of pitching in Triple-A compared to the majors. The Orioles are hoping continued tweaks to his delivery can produce improved fastball velocity, which could set up the slider to be a true wipeout pitch."

Not saying you did,but the board did. Tanner Scott as per board is a no factor. It does not matter

Or could you get Lucas Erceg for a package of Seth Johnson, Chace, Norby, and Stowers? He could have been a shut down reliever this year and potentially converted to a starter next year.

I mean, this is encouraging and great to hear some of the adjustments and thank you for posting.

But this really irks me, "While Rogers’ overall velocity has been down a couple of ticks, Ramsey attributes that to the difference in intensity of pitching in Triple-A compared to the majors". His velocity was down prior to being sent down. Either Ramsey wasn't aware of that, which would be unacceptable if so, or he's trying to silver lining things and not focus on the negative to the media. But let's be frank, a soft tossing lefty who wasn't effective as a soft tossing lefty is now an even softer tossing lefty...how realistic is it that this person ends up being a middle or even backend starter?

I'm going through a list of effective starters that live in the low 90s/high 90s, and I'm hard pressed to find anybody that does well barely touching 90. The closest I could find is Trevor Williams who tops out around 89-90. So, I think for Rogers is it isn't just pitch mix re: improving his slider, because all of his pitches have a negative run value, and his slider was the absolute worst this year, but he's gotta get some of that velocity back. His pitches have been barely league average for years now. He hasn't had a pitch with a postive run value over 1 since 2021. That is incredibly concerning. 

I'm more bullish on Povich. But I'm really pulling for Rogers. But I swear if Elias pencils him into the rotation next year in the offseason, I'll lose it.

This is some classic pitcher-speak head-in-the-sand nonsense. In fairness, they all do it. "I felt great out there but it just didn't go my way", etc. 

Or Cole Irvin after his sudden velocity decrease "I decided to stop focusing on velocity and get back to pitching".
