You don't think a decent pitcher can throw a strike to this guy if he slows it down to like 50 mph, he might not have much of a strike zone, but he's got to have some.

MAYBE six inches, depending on how deep the player in question squats: could be three or four. Especially since few umpires seem to call letters-to-knees anymore.

I think a guy like Chad Bradford could pitch to a dude that small. And you know what, political correctness be damned, I'd have my pitcher get on his knees and soft-toss that ball over (if you aren't allowed to pitch that way, I'd still have my pitcher soft-toss like crazy). I'd give that dude a meatball everytime. He's not gonna do much with it.

Actually I think Bradford's ball is rising at that point so probably not.

I think that he should be allowed to play, well mostly because equal rights was pretty much my thing in law school, and I don't see a proper reason why they could disallow his playing.

If the team is willing to take the hit of a player who can't run the bases, hit, or field effectively at a competitive level then why not. He has to know though that when people come out to see the games he is in its because he is putting himself out there as a spectacle. I just hope he has had the proper advice.

I'm sure David Flood takes no responsibility for his own actions. If the pitcher is throwing at him on purpose why wouldn't he be the responsible party?

Because head level is belt high to the standard hitter. I hope he isn't allowed to play.

I am not saying that the pitcher should throw at his head. I am trying to say that if he gets killed, the people that let him play should be held responsible.

I know. That's why I'm just confused as opposed to ripping you for insinuating I wanted to kill the guy :D;)

Really though, how is it any different from anyone else? I mean, let's go the other direction: if you play a seven-foot player who get's hit in the head on a pitch that would be over the top of a guy who's only six feet, is that the coach's fault?

This is no different than a hockey team using a 1000-lb guy as a goalie. Oh wait, I guess that only happened in my mind... :o

It happened in my mind too. Unfortunately, there are restrictions on the size of pads. So the 1000-lb guy would have to be willing to get drilled by pucks at 100 MPH routinely. Ain't happening. :002_scry:
