He isn’t driving him into the ground. He threw 12 pitches the other day. Had to think about getting thru 4 more innings.

I also guarantee the FO was in on the plan and Burnes knew the deal before the game tonight.

If he knew the deal, all the more reason to bring up somebody that can give you length and rest Cano. Including today, he’s pitched in 4 out of the last 5 games.

7 run deficit with 3 to pay.   Right where we want them.

I think prominent MLBPA members on both the Yankees and Orioles are a little chapped when stuff like this occurs.    All the best players know what's going on.

Eye of the Tiger...it might not be the worst thing for our dugout to watch the celebration.

The Yankees outplayed them for the division...congratulations to them.

FWIW, Cano only threw 16 pitches and Perez threw 8. I don’t disagree with your premise, but it’s not like those guys are out of commission for the next week.

It’s how much he’s been pitching lately. Coupled with him apparently having arm soreness/fatigue right before.

Media better get info on what Hyde was thinking yanking Burnes in a 1 run game having only thrown 69 pitches and would be on normal rest for Game 1. Especially since home field isn’t locked up. Can’t give these games away.

The media never asks difficult questions, because if they do, they will lose their press pass.

This. It’s just plain idiotic. Why are you blowing through Cano and Perez who had both thrown 3 times in the last 5 days? And putting Cano in the same exact spot he got torched in Tuesday.

Webb, Akin, and Soto are down. So now it’s just Bowman and Dominguez left? Just let Baker or Bowman start the 6th.

This hasn't gotten real until Emmanuel Rivera pitches.

So it’s Hyde’s fault they sucked tonight?

He brought Cano in for the 4th time in 5 games to face 3 guys that all had batted balls over 100 MPH against him on Tuesday. They all reached base and then he proceeded to bring in a guy with walk issues (who also had thrown 4 times in the last 5 games) with the bases loaded, who not surprisingly walked a run in. It’s not his fault they sucked, but that’s not a good spot for Cano and both guys have pitched a lot lately.

It's over now. To think Soto is one of the most trustworthy bullpen options at this moment.

I want a come back, but ….yeah. Still in the stands to see what this team is made of!

Yup. If this game doesn’t matter enough to yank Burnes after 69, it doesn’t matter enough to drive 2 important bullpen arms further into the ground. So now they’re not useful for tomorrow or maybe even Saturday, too, on games that still absolutely matter!

But in Hyde's defense -- who should he have brought there in instead?  I guess maybe Baker but in only a one run game in Yankee Stadium he's certainly not ideal either.  A lot of relievers have been used lately.  Elias needs to construct a better bullpen next season and beyond.

He was facing top of order. The pen has been pushed hard. It was the 6th. You don’t ditch Cano because of two nights ago.

Cano threw 50 pitches last 3 times out. Not like he is overly taxed.
