Wow, that is lame.

Abreu called time at the last second when Beckett was delivering. It wasnt even that close either. If anything Abreu should get suspended for being a little baby.

Oh well, if we miss Beckett thats fine by me.

The umpires don't have to grant the timeout you know.

If you have problems with the timeout blame the ump.

Nobody knows that for sure but Josh Beckett. That said, given his reputation, history of shenanigans, and the way he behaved after nearly hitting Abreu in the head, it seems to me pretty likely that the commissioner's office's assessment that it was intentional is accurate.

History of shenanigans? I don't recall any. What are you thinking about?

Listening to Nesn they made it seem Becket was waiting for time to be called so he could wing one over the guys head with no consequences.

I dont know. It could be he just got upset at the late call and lost his focus. LOL. Probably not though

Just this kind of stuff:

Fan has seen the big righthander rage around the mound all season. Seen him shout down Ryan Howard for admiring a towering fly ball in a meaningless spring training game. Seen him scream at Shea Hillenbrand for questioning an umpire's strike call. Seen him pump his fist after early-inning punchouts.

And the fact that he's often defiant and likes to gratuitously

in his media interviews. (Yes, the clip contains a swear word so don't play it at work without headphones if that would present a problem.)

My point was, there's a pattern of behavior over his career indicating that Beckett is prone to emotional outbursts and vindictive behavior towards opponents.

Yelling and cursing isn't the same as throwing a baseball at someone's head.

No, but they are all symptoms of a hothead, which makes it hard to defend against what looks like headhunting.

Also, he had some problems with Kenny Lofton, if I remember correctly.

By the way, this is the only reason I like the NL style of play with the pitcher hitting. I think this is less likely knowing he has to stand up there afterwards.

Beckett should get suspended for what he did. What happen to sending a message under the chin? Some of these pitchers have seriously lost it when they throw at heads.

I disagree.

Beckett was in the middle of his delivery when the time out was called. Abreu was the idiot waiting 12 seconds to call for time and decides to do it when the Bekcett was about to pitch. I really dont think he was trying to throw at his head at all, he just let it go because he wasnt expecting Abreu to back out.

Also, Abreu was the one who started the feud after the pitch. He was standing their pointing at Beckett.

Have you watched the video? Your post tells me you haven't. Batters call timeout all the time. And it wasn't late at all. Beckett was the a-hole who was mad like a baby and decided to throw at his head.

Abreu doesn't point. He goes "whats your problem".

No, I havent.

Im not kidding, how about Abreu stop acting like a baby. It happens, no need for the finger pointing or anything like that just move one.

Late time and Beckett wasnt paying attention = He did not expect Abreu to step out and was thrown off by it leading to the errant pitch.

He clearly points, watch the video - 1:30 skip to it.

Never points once.

A pitch 95 mph at the head could end a career. Beckett was looking in before he threw the pitch. He knew exactly what he is doing.

Clear enough that you have no idea what your watching. Hard to debate someone that is delusional.

When you almost get hit in the head by a baseball, throwing up your hands in shock/disgust is a perfectly natural spur of the moment reaction. Abreu had every right to react as he did. Beckett was the one who turned it from a minor issue into a big stink.
