And the hurricane was a direct hit on Sarasota... in coming days we will se ehow the Orioles' facilities there fared.   I assume that the fall instructional camp had already completed?

God said he hates domed stadiums.  I hope everyone in the area who could left.

I hope no one was hurt.

Milton put the Trop out of it's misery.

No injuries at the Trop.

They knew with the (near) direct hit that it wasn't a good place to have a shelter.

So what do the Rays do?   Spend a lot of money fixing the roof for the few remaining years that ballpark has left?

Or do like the A's and play in a minor league facility until their new ballpark is built?

I wonder if they could work out something with the Yankees to play in Steinbrenner Field.   It is in Tampa and one of the nicer spring training facilities on the Gulf Coast.   The Rays train in Port Charlotte which is (50???) miles south and I don't think the facility is nearly as good.   Steinbrenner FIeld seats over 10K, has luxury boxes, and a very accessible location for Tampa area fans.

Just throw some blue tarps on that thing.

At least blue will help outfielders track fly balls better. That off white color was really bad for in-game purposes.

So I talked to my source that works at the Trop.

They don't know much yet and are hoping to get eyes on tonight.

All she has heard thus far is that it's going to take a month to do the full assessment.

As I predicted over a month ago, the Rays will play their 2025 season in Steinbrenner Field.

I wonder if it will wind up their home for several years, or if the Yankees will ask for this to be a temporary arrangement and the Rays have to find a different minor league/spring training park by '26.

I think it's worth noting that the dimensions at Steinbrenner Field are modelled after Yankee Stadium so that is 6 or 7 additional games the Orioles will have in a field with a short RF porch, in addition to the 6 or 7 in Yankee Stadium and the 81 at Camden Yards.
