Who Is the Best Pitcher After Strasburg?

Recommended Posts

What do the scouts say? Lefthander - Matzek? Righthander - Crow, Scheppers or Gibson?

Everybody seems to have a different opinion about these pitchers. There should be a clear cut #2 pitcher and we have to hope Seattle takes him. If they do we will get Ackley or Green.

Does anybody have any quotes from mlb scouts on who the #2 pitcher should be in the draft?

This draft is fairly mixed up as regards scouting report consensus. As for the pitchers it's Strasburg and a bunch of pitchers with similar grades. Aaron Crow, Tyler Matzek and Kyle Gibson may have a slight lead over the others, but Zack Wheeler, Tanner Scheppers, Jacob Turner, Shelby Miller, Alex White, Matt Purke, and now Mike Leake are right there with them. Some scouts could have the dynamic HS arms of Wheeler, Turner or Miller at #2 though... it's just team preference.

Again, no clear cut #2...

Baseball America just did their rankings of the Top 200 2009 Draft Prospects. Their top lefthander is Matzek (#8 overall) and their top righthander, after Strasburg, is Gibson (#4 overall).
