2009 AL Cy Young Watch

High Mileage

His Wins total is not going to help him, unfortunately, but most damaging to his chances is that it's very likely he won't end the season in the AL... :P

He will become a White Sox. I am almost sure of it.

Halladay: (W #10), 9 innings, 7 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts. ERA down to 2.52

Slowey and Bedard face off tonight. I'll add one, or maybe both of them depending on how the game goes...

Guy is just unstoppable. He is definitely the favorite for CY Young. He is on pace for 30 wins this year so far. Highly unlikely that it will happen, but the dude is just filthy. The only thing I would think may hinder him is injury. He threw 133 pitches in his previous start...that is wayyy to much to expect from your ace.

As filthy as Doc's been, Grenkie is still the man to beat for the award. If Grenkie continues to pitch like this and Halladay continues on this torrid pace then there's no question Doc will pass him. But for now, it's still Grenkie's award to lose (and he's doing a good job of losing it in his last couple starts).

Buehrle has no shot because he always puts up those numbers. They're never impressive but they never stand out.

Millwood won't win it because he's, well, Kevin Millwood.

It's Weaver that took a big step backwards this weekend.

Based on those stats, looks like Halladay is the winner.

Halladay would win it if those were the stats, but Greinke should. More IP, less hits, 50 more K's, and a lower ERA. Those 2 extra wins and 2 fewer losses give it to Halladay?

I mean, I know they would, but that doesn't make it right.

I hope Halladay doesn't stay on the DL long --- has been a great season for him and I'd love to see a Greinke v. Halladay Cy Young battle.

These stats are awesome --- great to speculate how you view Greinke v. Halladay.

Do you take Greinke's better ERA/Ks over Halladay's 20 win season/incredible BB ratio?

I have to admit, I'm kind of pulling for Greinke here. Kid was absolutely amazing to follow early on in the season with a sub-1 ERA, which is definitely a bigger feat than a 20 win season (or is it nowadays???).

My bad, you were right. Misread it. Yeah, Grienke would have more k's. Dunno if 6 innings more is much to sway a voter, but the rest might. Two wins will get it for Halladay though, I agree.

I'm pulling for Grienke here, too. But both are awesome pitchers.
