Most parts of Alaska don't get 24-hour sunlight. It depends on the latitude (Alaska is a huge state). Basically, the Arctic Circle marks the zone of total darkness on the Winter Solistice (Dec. 21) and full sunlight on the summer Solistice (June 21).
