Live Mock Draft... Monday at 8:30pm

Recommended Posts

You know, being the contrarian I am, there's a slice of me that hopes Jordan sees White as the best option at 1:5.

If only for the rant, it'd be worth it.

I don't know, man. The Orioles only have one first round pick and we can't afford to screw it up. I followed UNC pretty closely due to Ackley and I wasn't impressed one bit by White. He had a few flashes of brilliance, but had issues with command all season due to his delivery.

I bet he winds up in the bullpen when all is said and done and you don't want to be drafting a bullpen arm with the 5th pick in the draft.

Wheeler and Miller have higher ceilings IMO, and would be much better picks.

I couldn't disagree more with you. He almost quit football this past summer. I believe one of the reasons he is still playing is to drive his price up in the draft.

He earned his status with premium athletic ability, graceful actions, good bloodlines and emerging baseball skills. Tate showed his athleticism during a rigorous summer, playing for USA Baseball's 18U team, and in the Aflac and Under Armour games. Every time is has been challenged on the baseball field he has met and exceeded people's expectations.

He will sign and he will be a special player. ;)

AH! You struck my Tate nerve! He went right back to football after he said he'd give it up to concentrate on baseball as soon as Pete Carroll offered him a 2-sport scholarship. I personally believe his true love is football and unless a brinks truck shows up at his house, he'll play that out to see if he can go pro there first.

Cincy goes with the college lefty out of Vandy. He showed in the SEC tourney why he was considered a top 10 pick by many pre-season, flashing a devistating slider to go with an always plus change-up. He also mixes in a curve as a fourth offering.

The big knock is average fastball velocity, though he commands it well.

Were I drafting for Cincy, I'd go with Grant Green, here.

Well done here, Stot. I think Cincy definitely goes with an arm. Minor has certainly leaped up some boards lately. What do you think about Minor v. Leake? I;ve heard rumblings that Leake is moving up some draft boards right now. He pitched very, very well at Arizona State.

1:9 Detroit Tigers... Jacob Turner, RHP, HS (MO)

Arguably the best prep arm in the draft... and the Tigers love super-talented prep stars. Could be viewed as Porcello II.

I'd take Grant Green here, by a slight margin over Turner.

Jordan obviously sees something in White that he likes.

Numbers aren't always going to tell you the whole story. Don't forget this guy.

The issue with Leake is that he is very average across the board with plus command. So, he has a full mix of pitches but no real Major League put-away offering. Coupling that with his smaller frame, and it's understandable that teams may be a little gun shy.

I think he goes in the top 11, and that is really a testament to him as a player. He does everything right, works hard, and has turned a late 1st-round skillset into a lot of extra money and probably the Golden Spikes Award at the end of the year (and I picked a National Championship to boot!).

I think you nailed this on both counts. Well done, sir.

I think UVA has got a real shot too. But I certainly think its ASU, Fullerton or UVAs to win.
