A year ago, the O's were 43-40 after 83 games

The thing that I don't like is that I don't forsee Tillman, Arrietta, Matusz, Bergensen, Hernadez/ Erbe being better than any of the following in the next 2 years...

Sabathia, Burnett, Chamberlin, Hughes, some overpriced FA

Beckett, Lester, Buchholtz, Masterson, some overpriced FA

Halladay, McGowan, Marcum, Romero, Richmond

Shields, Kazmir, Garza, Price, Davis/ Niemann

And these teams will always have competitve offenses. At least 2/4 of them will likely have elite offenses. The future is bright, that is for sure. But at somepoint something is going to have to click. An elite offensive player or two will have to be acquired. And MacPhail will likely have to breakdown and buy a good arm.

Well, Sabathia's pitched 250 innings the last two years and is probably going to do it again this year, especially should the NYY reach the postseason. He's horribly overweight. Don't expect him to remain healthy. Burnett has also never been consistently healthy, and Hughes has not proven himself yet.

Beckett is only signed through 2010 I believe, and Lester is the only other proven one in that list. Who's to say Masterson and Buchholz will be better than Tillman and Matusz?

Halladay is gone after 2010, if not traded sooner. Marcum and McGowan are both returning from injuries. And really, without Halladay, the Jays lose a lot of bullpen protection he provides with so many IP.

Kazmir is also coming off an injury, and Price has yet to prove himself. Sonnanstine is pitching horribly. This is also the team that appears to have the weakest offense in the entire east.

Anything can happen. We only have to finish in second to make the postseason :D

    • No problem. Like I said I think Mike is open minded. Big difference obviously from shagging pre game to playing in games. Said Mayo is working on OF behind the scenes.

    • He didn’t cover that. Just said he responded well to the injection. Said in January he felt weird sensation ramping up. He felt like at time he could throw threw it. Credited rest and staff working with him. Build him back slowly in minors.    I enjoy listening to Front Office show and with Sirius app can go back and listen.
    • I saw he was just put on the IL for a knee sprain. I hope it's not serious.

    • Thanks for sharing! I think Mayo in the OF is a good idea. Westburg is proving himself capable of being an every day option at 3B. 1B is covered for now unless something unexpected happens with Mountcastle. All of the OF prospects are left handed so Mayo would help balance that out.
    • Good info, thanks. Can you expand on Bradish? So are MRI's still showing damage to the ligament following the PRP injection?
