What year did you see the O's in person?

On a September morning in 1991 when I was just 8 years old, my Dad woke me up asking if I wanted to go to McDonald's for breakfast. We hopped in the car, and hit the road. As we came up to the McDonald's near my house, my dad didn't slow down. He went right by it! When I asked him what happened, he said, "Not that one..."

2.5 hours later we end up at the entrance of Memorial Stadium and my love for the Orioles (and a certain SS) is born.

I don't remember who we played that day, but I will always remember my first O's game with my Dad!

One of my first memories of Oriole baseball was the parade in 1982. I was only 6 and my dad took me to the parade, but I do remember it.......However it seems to have all gone downhill from there:rolleyes:. (except for 89,96-97, I worked at the stadium in 1997 just to be able to go the all of the playoff games)

Ever: Fenway in 1988, I think.

At home: 1991/92 I'm leaning toward 1992 (I'll have to check my program, which had a caricature/cartoonish Johnny Oates on the front.)

Well, was it Camden or Memorial Stadium. That should be easy to remember? :)

I can't remember exactly which game was the first. It was early 80s though. We'd always sit in the bleachers. I remember sitting out there one day and there was a foul ball down the line that kicked off the wall right to Dave Winfield when he was with the Yankees. Everybody was screaming for the ball. My mother said in her little English voice, "Mr. Winfield, may I have that ball please?" and he threw it right to her.

I remember going to a few games between '86-'88.

The 1st one I can actually remember who we played was a double header against Boston in '89 when I was 9. I remember the birds losing the 1st game, then leaving around the 4th inning of the 2nd game because my dad had to work the next morning.

No joke. I can't remember exactly when it was but I went to a game with a good friend of mine and when we walked up the ramp leading to the field (we were running late that night so it was the bottom of the first, I think), the LF was going back, jumped, and went over the fence. It was hilarious. And that fence was 6 to 7 feet high. I think they were playing the Angels. I'll try to look it up.

Tell me exactly when it was k?:)

Not to interrupt, but September 4, 1989..Tim Hulett hit a game winning HR in the bottom of the ninth. Cal's HR was early in the game, and Komminsk fell over the CF wall. It's on the "Why Not" video.

Oh, and my first game was May of '76. Palmer pitched a shutout against the Twins I believe.

O's in Rochester v. the Red Wings - 1970. Back then all of the O's played.

First in Baltimore? ~1984 when I moved to DC. All I remember it was about 95 degrees at game time and unbelievably human and there was a woman who was (ok, be nice) a tad overweight with really long, sweaty hair that she kept sweeping in my lap (I was behind her - had to put that in for you sick puppies)... anyway, it was against the Tigers and IIRC they were like 30-4 or some ridiculous start to the season.

I also remember parking itself was an interesting adventure - but some nice young man "watched my car" for the extra $20 or so in the middle of a really nice Memorial Stadium neighborhood. IIRC not every car in this neighborhood fared as well - how dumb? either you pay $20 now or a big deductible later...

I remember names like Al Smith and Willie Kirkland. I distinctly remember seeing Jackie Brandt. I once had a Jackie Brandt bat...and so did Andy Macphail. He told me.The Orioles had the early laughing bird on the sleeve. And striped orange and black socks. Ill never forget that.

I believe Whitey Herzog was on the 62 team. I remember seeing a picture of Whitey in the Oriole uniform you just described. Dick Williams may have been on that club also.
