Yesterday's game was the fourth largest crowd in Camden Yards history?? Just goes to show what a disgrace this organization has become. Pathetic.

Can't wait until there's actually some Os fans selling out OUR OWN stadium... very sad.

This isn't how I was hoping to spend my Sunday. Can we atleast start a beanball war?

I actually think that's one of the reasons the pitchers are getting hit so hard. They let everyone dig in and lean into the strike zone and they never do anything about it.

I'm not saying they have to hurt someone. But they need to move these guys off the plate.

Or maybe they could try throwing a first pitch strike sometime.

    • I had a long drive Wednesday afternoon and listened to Newman and Garceau.  It was the worst radio broadcast I’ve listened to in 45 years as a baseball fan.  They were both constantly behind the play (based on the sound of the bat and the crowd reaction).  On some plays I didn’t really know what happened until the play was over and they told me who was on base where and how many outs there were. I agree with other posters - have Newman and Garceau focus on studio hosting.  If they need an occasional play-by-play person on the radio side bring up Adam Pohl or one of the other minor league announcers.
    • Well, he broke the every other start pattern, but not in a good way...
    • There still could have been to know exactly when he would regress and trade him at peak value to fleece the Twins even more than we did /s
    • Looks like a lot of wasted pitches still.
    • Southpaw compliments aplenty.😆
    • In 50 total appearances for the Twins, these are Jorge’s cumulative stats. 46.2 IP 45 hits 24 walks 8 HBP 7 home runs  39 strikeouts
    • Yesterday looked like work on your fastball and curveball command day as he threw the fastball 66% (62) and the curveball 17% (16) of the time. Now there is discussion about "tipping" and one thing I noted is there is a distinct difference between his curveball release point which his higher most of the time than his other pitches. The light blue is the curveball. It may be the reason he only got 4 swings (two misses) in his 16 curveballs and only recorded three called strikes.  That tells me the batters are able to pick that pitch up pretty well, despite the good vertical movement of the pitch. You have to wonder if they see a "hop" out of the hand that tells them curveball. This next chart I think explains his issues. Batters just don't respect that he can throw his offspeed pitches over the plate. Is it really surprising that out of the 32 offspeed pitches he threw, he got only 6 swings? I count only 9 offspeed pitches as strikes. You can't even see the non competitive pitches off this chart.  At the end of the day, he can overpower AAA hitters with his 96-99 MPH fastball even with them sitting on it, but clearly he can not do the same thing to major league hitters. Overall he threw 45 pitches in the strike zone, 49 out. That's not good. Until he can command his offspeed pitches, he should not be back up in the majors regardless of the stats.
