Vincente Padilla Designated For Assignment

The Texas Rangers have designated right-hander Vicente Padilla for assignment,

According to Baseball Tonight, one of the reasons was Padilla's frequent throwing at opposing hitters.

A Rangers player was quoted to the effect that, "I have several friends on the Yankees and they told me that they were afraid that this would continue until one of the Rangers players got hurt." He said that several of his fellow players were uncomfortable with Padilla pitching for them.

Eduardo Perez commented that Padilla belonged in the National League, where he couldn't get away with that stuff, because one of the opposing pitchers would retaliate against him instead of the Rangers hitters.

Yet another reason why the designated hitter is an abomination to baseball.
