Anybody know what a 2-seam FB looks like? I don't. But I do know that Berken was talking about how important it is that he use a 2-seamer... and according to Gameday he's thrown exactly 2 of them tonight. It shows a zilion 4-seamers, a bunch of changeups, 4 sliders, 2 curves, and 2 2-seamers...

I thought this would be a good series for us, and CLE too. Two young, rebuilding teams going at it. Last night was a great game, despite the outcome. Tonight is the same. A game which has you on the edge of your seat, you don't know the out come til the fat lady sings.

THIS is why Trembley should be offered a long contract. Continuity. And he is just fine, despite his few little flaws. He is a calming influence, and a light a fire under their ... influence.

Dave is not the best ever, he has some issues, but he is NOT a hindrance. He deserves a good damn chance to prove that he might be a legend.

Two-seamers usually have a sinking action. Good ones have a heavy sinking action.

Four-seamers have a hop or a "tail" (tailing into RHB if thrown by a RHP).

Two-seamers usually are 2-4 MPH slower than the four-seamer.

A 2-seam fastball has more tail and sink than a 4-seam, and is usually several mph slower than the 4-seam. Berken has thrown more than two tonight, I think Gameday doesn't really know what it's talking about.

2 seamers from Berken would start in the middle of the plate and run back in on the hands of a right handed hitter, and ideally have a bit of sink on them, too.

Think Jim Johnson minus a few MPH. I saw a few "sinkers" on there... same pitch, more or less.
