I would like to hear Reimold's opinion on serving primarily as a DH. I know most guys dislike it but Reimold seems like a pretty selfless player and hasn't complained yet, and I think it would do wonders for keeping him healthy.

Agreed. The fun part about our line-up, is if Scott becomes out 1B we have 5 outfielders we can rotate in and around the outfield and DH and Scott who can play first.

I really like where our OF is right now.

Now let's pray that Bell becomes the big time power hitting 3B we need. :pray:

I think it would be a bit premature for a rookie to complain about anything.

Maybe it gets to the point where Nolan plays in the field about 50 games and the other 3 DH about 15 games to stay fresh. It works if Luke plays well at first base.

Wieters has a lot of learning to do still. There are games like this where he looks lost at the plate, even against a struggling pitcher. He didn't adjust at all in either of those AB's.

It's a small complaint though, we're up 4-0 and Matusz has looked great so far. Along with my favorite Oriole Pie getting a HR, I'm a happy man.

Amazing how an $8 liter of scotch can taste great on a day like this! :)

      I'm sure Holliday is mentally struggling in his own way, but he certainly hides it better than Cowser did haha. What I saw from Cowser on his face/body language last year is partly why I was so ready to send him out in a trade this offseason. Obviously, I was wrong as hell. And fortunately, I don't run the baseball team. : )

      Sure but that doesn’t have to happen immediately.  You don’t say, well I’m keeping Kjerstad in the minors because I can only find 8-10 at bats a week for him.  That’s enough for the moment. Rather that than 25 at bats in AAA right now. Especially a guy like Kjerstad, who is getting “old” for the minors.  Norby is similar as well.

      If Jackson Holliday turns out to be anywhere near the stratosphere offensively of a Derek Jeter, that will be a MASSIVE win for everyone! I disagree that he was rushed, he's was and is that good. He just hasn't shown it yet at this level. And no I don't think he has the athletic upside of Gunnar Henderson. NO ONE in the org does! So IMO that shouldn't be the standard of judgment. Given how little there is to gain with a Norby promotion, IMO it is better to use him as a trade chip. Lastly, no. Riding with the status quo through the through the season is not the correct move for a team seeking to win a World Series. It wasn't the right move last year and that played out with the results as our lack of quality top end pitching last season got exposed against the Rangers. IMO there is no need (especially with an overabundance of org talent) to take such a risk.

      I really appreciate the in-depth answer, but I want to clarify something? Do I understand that when a minor leader is called up to the major leagues for the first time, he signs a new major league contract that will pay a larger salary, even if he is sent back to the minor leagues? And that is his new salary, no matter how long he remains in the minor leagues, until or unless he is called up to the majors leagues again in which case he gets a larger major league contract that will be in effect when he gets returned to the minors?

      Cowser, to me, was clearly mentally struggling.  You could see it on his face, in his body language, in his movements on the field.  I fully supported sending him back down at the time. I personally don't see the same thing with Holliday.  Maybe a little hesitation in the field, but that also could be learning a new position.  But he seems composed, you see him in the dugout and he doesn't seem down on himself.  He celebrates with his teammates when good things happen.  He's generally not up there fishing for bad pitches.  I don't get the impression that he's in over his head at all from a mental standpoint. I'd say it's a combination of around 40% not quite ready, 40% just a badly-timed slump, and 20% luck.  He had some really tough calls go against him early on that made his ABs a lot more difficult. End of the day I don't really care what they do.  I wasn't clamoring for him to come up and I'm not going to be upset if he goes back down.  But I see no evidence that he needs some sort of reset.

      Well, I mean, Mayo seems basically ready now and I think we're talking about a pretty special hitter, there. Let's overact and say Mounty is having a breakout season based on this SSS...we're still talking about probably an .850 OPS season tops. Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I think Mayo can likely replicate that in his first full season (if we can find some ABs for him somehow this season, obviously, that'd be great) and the upside is much, much higher.  Would I package Mountcastle, Norby, and Stowers for a top arm? Yes. Would I package even a few of them for just a top relief arm? Perhaps, too, depending on the arm and the package. Next season we'll be getting into that part of the project where even the smallest upgrades we'll need to be aggressive in pursuing them.

      Giving Joey Ortiz a cup of coffee didn't do anything to his trade value. Cowser's probably did go down a bit due to the length and severity of his early struggles. Heck, I would have been OK with trading Cowser for Cease (I voted no, but more because of my view of Ortiz/Westburg). If Norby can pull an Evan Carter heater for a couple of weeks, who knows, it might work out the other way.
